Central Sterile Technician

Job Summary:

Oneida Health Hospital is seeking a Full time Central Sterile Technician to join the Hospital's Central Sterile Department for the evening shift. The Central Sterile Technician is responsible for maintaining and stocking hospital supplies and equipment used to support nursing. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong understanding of the importance of cleanliness in hospital equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain detailed records related to the quality and infection control of equipment, including documentation of washer test and biologicals.
  • Collect dirty instruments throughout the hospital for processing.
  • Reprocess, assemble, and sterilize instruments and instrument sets, as well as other sterile supplies.
  • Reprocess flexible endoscopes for the Endoscopy department following established protocols.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and order of the Sterile Processing department.
  • Perform maintenance and testing of all equipment used in the department to ensure functionality and safety.
  • Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team to ensure efficient operation of the Central Sterile Department.
  • Adhere to infection control protocols and maintain a clean and sterile work environment.
  • Assist with inventory management, including restocking supplies and ensuring adequate levels are maintained.
  • Follow established procedures and protocols for sterilization and decontamination processes.
  • Participate in ongoing training and education to stay current on best practices and regulations in sterile processing.
  • Must be able to follow direction from Supervisor\Charge\Manager and be able to work independently.
  • Take call on weekends when scheduled.
