Chemical Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Chemical Engineer to support the scale-up of innovative chemical processes from laboratory and pilot stages through to full commercial production. This is a hands-on role focused on process design, plant optimisation, operational excellence, and continuous improvement within a growing industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the scale-up and commercialisation of chemical processes.
  • Design, develop, and commission chemical processing facilities.
  • Optimise plant performance, throughput, and operational efficiency.
  • Conduct process design activities, including PFDs, P&IDs and 3D modelling.
  • Apply fluid flow, mixing, pumping, and piping expertise to improve plant operations.
  • Drive process safety initiatives, hazard assessments, and regulatory compliance.
  • Investigate operational issues using root cause analysis and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Support process control, automation, and continuous improvement projects.
  • Monitor plant performance and use data analysis to identify enhancement opportunities.
  • Collaborate closely with R&D, engineering, and operations teams to deliver successful process transfer and scale-up.

About You

  • Degree qualified in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience in chemical manufacturing, process engineering, or industrial processing environments.
  • Strong background in process design, plant commissioning, and operational optimisation.
  • Knowledge of fluid dynamics, equipment specification, and process safety management.
  • Experienced in developing engineering solutions across complex, interconnected processes.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Passionate about safety, sustainability, and continuous improvement.

Desirable

  • Experience within hydrometallurgy or metals processing.
  • IOSH, NEBOSH, or similar Health & Safety qualifications.
  • Knowledge of environmental compliance and waste management regulations.
