The Opportunity
This is a once-in-a-generation moment for Susan G. Komen. As the organization embarks on a bold transformation - to modernize how it works, scale its impact, and accelerate the fight to end deaths from breast cancer - the Chief of Staff will be the President & CEO's closest strategic partner in making it happen.
This is a senior leadership role at the center of the organization's most consequential period of change. Reporting directly to the President & CEO, the Chief of Staff translates vision into disciplined execution, drives the transformation agenda, and ensures the organization moves with clarity, pace, and accountability.
What You'll Be Doing in the role of Chief of Staff
The Chief of Staff serves as a principal advisor and strategic partner to the President & CEO, with primary responsibility for driving and executing Komen's enterprise transformation. The role leads and coordinates cross-functional priorities, strengthens the rhythm and effectiveness of the leadership team, and acts as a trusted connector across a distributed organization.
This is a strategic leadership position - driving awareness, alignment, and accountability. The Chief of Staff collaborates with the executive leadership team (ELT) driving and executing on the strategy, transformation, and execution at the enterprise level and works closely with the CEO’s executive assistant who is responsible for scheduling and day-to-day administration.
The role requires a seasoned leader with demonstrated experience driving complex change at scale and a track record of initiating, managing and successfully delivering multiple complex programs simultaneously Someone who can think alongside the CEO on the transformation agenda while working effectively across the Executive and Senior Leadership Teams to ensure they are driving their remits and delivering.

What You Will Bring to the Table
Strategy & Transformation
Transformation Roadmap: Partner with the CEO to shape, structure, and drive the enterprise transformation agenda across strategy, organizational design, operating model, and culture.
Translate the CEO's strategic priorities into a sequenced roadmap with clear milestones, owners, and measures of success.
Special Projects and Initiatives: Lead and coordinate high-priority, cross-functional initiatives that require executive sponsorship or do not yet have a defined owner.
Organizational Navigation: Leverage deep knowledge of Komen’s mission, history, and operational channels to remove friction and accelerate transformation initiatives.
Accountability and Tracking: Monitor progress against transformation objectives and ensure accountability for delivery across functions.
Executive Operating Cadence and Decision Support
Leadership Rhythm: Design and run the leadership operating cadence - leadership team meetings, strategic reviews, decision-making, and follow-through.
Ensure decisions are made, documented, communicated, and executed.
Information Flow: Prioritize and manage the flow of strategic information to and from the CEO, ensuring the CEO's time and focus go to the highest-value priorities.
Briefings and Executive Prep: Prepare the CEO for critical internal and external engagements.
Organizational Connection & Culture
Trusted Connector: Serve as a trusted connector between the CEO and the leadership team - an accelerant for functional leaders, never a gatekeeper.
Risk & Tension Identification: Surface risks, tensions, and opportunities across a distributed organization and ensure they reach the CEO with appropriate context.
Cultural Steward: Support the CEO in strengthening an inclusive, collaborative, people-first culture across a remote workforce.
Board Partnership
Board Preparation: Partner with the CEO on Board preparation, materials, and follow-through.
Committee Coordination: Support coordination with Board committees as directed by the CEO.
What This Role Is – and Is Not
Is: a strategic executive partner, enterprise transformation leader and force multiplier in driving enterprise transformation and execution as much to support the ELT as the CEO.
Is not: an administrative or executive-assistant role. Scheduling, travel, and day-to-day administration are handled by the CEO's executive assistant.
Partners with, does not duplicate: the Executive Leadership team; the Chief of Staff drives the CEO's & ELT’s agenda, cross-functional priorities, and follow-through.
We Already Know You Will Also Have
Significant senior-level experience in an equivalent strategic advisory and execution role to a senior executive.
Demonstrated 8+ years of experience driving organizational transformation and change management at scale, ideally within a large, complex, mission-driven organization with demonstrated success leading strategic planning, cross-functional execution, and enterprise change.
Institutional Acumen: Deep familiarity with Susan G. Komen’s mission, operating structure, field dynamics, fundraising vehicles, and culture – enabling rapid execution without a long onboarding learning curve.
Change Leadership: Proven ability to translate strategy into execution and to hold cross-functional teams accountable for delivery.
Strong commercial and analytical judgment; experience with revenue, growth, or partnership functions is highly valued.
Communication & Influence: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complexity for varied audiences.
Emotional Intelligence and Discretion: High emotional intelligence and sound judgment; able to operate with discretion, build trust across a senior team, and exercise delegated authority with humility.
A demonstrated commitment to inclusive, people-first leadership.
Experience working effectively in a distributed or remote organization.
Bachelors degree preferred, not required.
Strong technical aptitude.

Approximate salary $185,000 to $237,000/annual, exact compensation ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job level, internal equity and budget. Exact salary offers will be determined by factors such as the candidate's skills, experience and geographic location. Additionally, this is what Komen provides away from the computer:
