CI/Data Engineer

Summary

Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and cloud-based data workflows for inertial positioning algorithms, converting MATLAB code to C and automating validation and deployment for robotics and autonomous systems.

Do you want to develop cutting-edge inertial positioning algorithms that push the boundaries of modern positioning systems?

Location: Espoo, Tampere or Jyväskylä Modern positioning systems are increasingly impacted by GNSS degradation, spoofing, jamming and coverage gaps. Yet many products still rely on the assumption of continuous, low-cost and high-quality GPS availability. Nordic Inertial addresses this fundamental limitation with a proprietary inertial navigation architecture capable of delivering accurate, drift-controlled position and heading without external references. Our solution achieves high-end performance at a fraction of the cost of traditional tactical-grade IMUs, enabling robust navigation even in GNSS-denied conditions. Behind these capabilities is a multidisciplinary engineering team working closely with customers whose requirements range from autonomous systems to advanced robotics — environments where precision, reliability and repeatability truly matter.

We are looking for a CI/Data engineer to join our team and help shape the future!

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain Current CI Environment: Support existing Azure DevOps pipelines, MATLAB workflows, and code conversion to C.
  • Drive Transition to Target State: Design and implement a cloud-based CI/CD environment with automated data processing and AI-assisted development.
  • Data Management Evolution: Move from static data storage to dynamic, validated, and categorized datasets accessible externally.
  • Version & Deployment Management: Develop tools for managing and distributing algorithm versions to field environments.
  • Monitoring & Reporting: Implement automated logging, alarms, and cloud-based reporting for key parameters.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with algorithm developers, data scientists, and system engineers to align processes with business goals.

Required Skills:

  • Experience in CI/CD best practices and cloud-native architectures, with the ability to introduce and champion modern development workflows within the team.
  • Experience in version control and deployment strategies, including branching models, release management, and automated delivery practices.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB, C, and Python for automation, integration, and algorithm development support.
  • Experience in data management, categorization, and validation workflows, particularly in algorithm-driven or data-intensive environments.
  • Ability and willingness to drive continuous improvement, introduce industry best practices, and evolve internal tooling, processes, and automation capabilities.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with Azure DevOps environment and tools, including pipelines, repository structures, and artifact management.
  • Proven track-record of practices to enhance productivity and code quality
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools
  • Basic experience with workflow orchestration tools, e.g. Airflow, Prefect, Azure Data Factory, or similar systems used for automated data or validation pipelines.
  • Experience with data visualization and reporting tools, such as Python visualization libraries, MATLAB visualizations, Jupyter, or BI tools

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s in computer science, data Engineering, or related field.
  • 3+ years in CI/CD and data engineering roles, with experience in cloud migration projects.

What We Offer:

The opportunity to contribute to development of high-precision inertial positioning systems. A dynamic and autonomous role where you can directly influence the evolution of development methods of inertial positioning systems. Hands-on work with cutting-edge inertial positioning systems in both mobile and laboratory environments. Our small yet highly seasoned team is relentlessly pushing the boundaries of what we can achieve. We’re already delivering work that no other group in our domain can match — and we’re not stopping there. If this role aligns with your skills and ambitions, let’s build something even stronger together. We’re genuinely looking forward to hearing from you. Nordic Inertial is a Finnish innovator, working globally to provide resilient solutions for GNSS-free positioning and orientation estimation for multiple industries and applications.
