TOTH is seeking a Civil Engineer III/IV to join our Civil Engineering Department. This position is responsible for the planning, design, coordination, and execution of a variety of civil engineering projects, including but not limited to site development, stormwater management, wastewater systems, potable water systems, and transportation improvements.
The Civil Engineer III/IV serves as a senior technical resource within the department, managing increasingly complex projects while supporting project managers, mentoring junior staff, and maintaining strong client relationships. This role requires a high degree of independent judgment, technical expertise, and project coordination experience. While not a formal people-management position, the Civil Engineer III/IV may provide technical guidance, mentorship, and oversight to less experienced team members.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and execution of civil engineering projects from conceptual planning through construction administration.
- Prepare and review site plans, grading plans, utility plans, stormwater plans, roadway plans, and related construction documents.
- Perform engineering calculations, technical analyses, and design evaluations.
- Coordinate project activities with internal teams, clients, contractors, consultants, and regulatory agencies.
- Prepare and review technical reports, cost estimates, specifications, permit applications, and bid documents.
- Ensure project deliverables meet applicable codes, regulations, and company quality standards.
- Assist with project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource coordination.
- Monitor project progress and identify potential challenges or risks.
- Provide recommendations and solutions to engineering and construction-related issues.
- Support construction administration activities, including site visits, observations, and responses to contractor inquiries.
- Serve as a technical resource and mentor to Civil Engineer I and II staff.
- Review work products prepared by junior team members for accuracy and completeness.
- Develop and maintain positive client relationships and support business development efforts.
- Represent the firm professionally in meetings, presentations, and project discussions.
- Travel to project sites as required.
