Civil/Water Engineer – Water Infrastructure Projects
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Civil/Water Engineer to support the planning, design, supervision, and implementation of water infrastructure projects.
The ideal candidate must have hands-on experience in water supply systems including reservoirs, treatment plants, transmission mains, distribution networks, and related civil works. Experience working on donor-funded, NGO-sponsored, or government water projects is highly desirable.
The role requires strong technical expertise in civil engineering works related to water systems, construction supervision, and quality control.
Key Responsibilities:
Design & Technical Support:
Support the design and review of water infrastructure systems including reservoirs, treatment plants, and pipeline networks.
Prepare and review engineering drawings, BOQs, technical specifications, and cost estimates.
Conduct hydraulic assessments and ensure proper system sizing and alignment.
Ensure compliance with Nigerian regulations and applicable international standards.
Construction Supervision:
Supervise civil works including excavation, concrete works, pipeline installation, chamber construction, and structural components.
Monitor contractor performance and ensure adherence to approved drawings and specifications.
Conduct routine site inspections and verify material quality.
Ensure proper backfilling, compaction, and reinstatement procedures.
Quality Assurance & Compliance:
Implement QA/QC procedures for civil construction activities.
Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety standards.
Support donor safeguard compliance where applicable.
Prepare site reports, progress documentation, and technical records.
Project Coordination:
Coordinate with electrical, mechanical, and structural teams for integrated project delivery.
Participate in stakeholder meetings and technical review sessions.
Support commissioning and handover processes.
Requirements
Qualifications & Requirements:
Education & Experience:
BSc/HND in Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, or related field.
Minimum of 5–8 years of relevant experience in water infrastructure projects.
Experience in reservoirs, water treatment facilities, transmission pipelines, or distribution networks is required.
Experience handling donor-funded, NGO-sponsored, or government projects is an added advantage.
Professional Certification (Compulsory):
Registered with COREN (Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria) – Mandatory.
Active member of NSE (Nigerian Society of Engineers) – Mandatory.
Technical Competencies:
Strong understanding of water supply systems and civil construction methods.
Knowledge of reinforced concrete works and pipeline installation.
Familiarity with hydraulic principles and water system layouts.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
Proficiency in AutoCAD and other relevant engineering tools is an advantage.
