Client Success Lead (Japan)

Discussion

Overview of the Role:

We’re looking for a Client Success Lead to join our growing team and own and expand a portfolio of Japanese and global accounts. These span entertainment (gaming, anime, manga and publishing), consumer and luxury brands, and other sectors.

This is a commercial, quota-carrying role. You’ll be given an established portfolio alongside significant opportunity to drive new growth, with an annual target built from three things: net-new business won with Japan-headquartered rights holders, expansion revenue generated within your accounts, and retention of that book. If you’re looking for a role where you can inherit strong client relationships while building your own market presence, read on.

What makes it different is what you’re selling. Japanese IP is some of the most widely counterfeited and pirated in the world, and the infringement largely happens outside Japan. IP House protects that IP across global marketplaces, social platforms, piracy networks, and physical markets. The work is technical, while the sales process is consultative and relationship-led, and clients stay for years when delivery is strong. As our client base continues to grow, we're investing in additional client success and commercial expertise to deepen those relationships and support further expansion. You’ll be close enough to delivery to sell it credibly and to grow accounts once they’re live

Compensation includes base salary and an incentive plan.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Grow the accounts you hold. Identify expansion paths, lead the commercial conversations, and negotiate scope changes, uplifts, and renewals directly, including with stakeholders in legal, IP, licensing and brand teams.
  • Win new business. Own the net-new logo target for Japan. Build and work your own pipeline through outbound, referrals, and industry networking, supported by marketing-generated demand. Run opportunities end to end, from first conversation through solution design, pricing, and close.
  • Keep clients. Serve as the senior relationship owner across your portfolio. Run regular business reviews that evidence real value, and spot retention risk long before it reaches a renewal date.
  • Bridge Japan and global delivery. Partner with Operations teams across regions to hold the line on timelines, quality, and compliance. Translate client expectations into clear requirements for international delivery teams, and feed what you hear from clients back into Product and Client Solutions.
  • Represent IP House. Attend and speak at industry events, IP and anti-counterfeiting forums, and sector association meetings in Japan as a business development presence.

What You’ll Bring

  • Native-level Japanese and business-level English, written and spoken. You’ll work daily with Japanese clients and with global colleagues in English.
  • 4–6 years in a quota-carrying role: sales, business development, or commercially accountable client success or account management.
  • A track record of hitting an individual revenue target.
  • Experience originating and closing net-new business, not only growing accounts you inherited.
  • Comfort owning pricing conversations, negotiating terms, and closing contracts with Japanese enterprises.
  • Strong retention performance across a managed portfolio.
  • Disciplined pipeline and forecasting habits, and fluency with CRM.
  • Credibility with both commercial and operational audiences, and the ability to work across time zones.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

Sector background in IP enforcement, brand protection, legal services, content licensing, SaaS, or professional services is an advantage. An existing network among Japanese rights holders in gaming, anime, publishing or consumer brands is a strong plus. That said, we’re most interested in commercial track record and the ability to learn a complex domain quickly.
