Performs specimen collection, lab testing, and quality checks for patient samples in a clinical setting, ensuring accurate results and timely reporting to healthcare teams.

Job Overview:

Responsible for specimen collection and processing, performing and interpreting technical laboratory testing, reporting reliable test results and coordinating physician orders. Provides and/or collaborates with other health care team members in the delivery of patient care.

  • Collects patient samples for analysis, including venous, capillary, urine and stool specimens.
  • Performs lab analysis to determine the chemical components.
  • Performs daily quality control checks each day of testing prior to patient testing.
  • Reviews lab results for erroneous results or critical values prior to entering information into the Electronic Health Record.
  • Notifies physician of critical values and documents date, time and resolution.
  • Maintains and documents preventative maintenance of equipment in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
  • Takes an inventory of laboratory supplies, reordering when necessary.
  • Collects data, prepares reports, answers correspondence and compiles statistics as necessary.

Education and Experience

  • Completion of Highschool degree or GED required

Experience and Qualifications

  • Minimum of one-year relevant experience in phlebotomy preferred.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Certified phlebotomist or CMA Preferred

Shift: Full-Time; Monday-Friday

Hours: 40 per week
