Clinical Business Analyst
We are seeking a Clinical Business Analyst to support a large-scale clinical information system modernization initiative within a public sector health system. This role serves as a critical liaison between the modernization program and clinical, technical, operational, and business stakeholders across multiple regional health authorities and government departments. The Clinical Business Analyst will be responsible for understanding stakeholder needs, facilitating collaborative sessions, and translating complex clinical and operational requirements into clear, actionable specifications that enable data-driven decision-making across the health system.
This position requires someone who can translate complex clinical, operational, and business needs into structured, implementation-ready requirements in a Business Intelligence environment to support the planning and implementation of a clinical data ecosystem. The role encompasses gathering business, operational, and clinical requirements; designing objectives and key results and performance indicators; documenting current and future state workflows and data sources; eliciting and validating requirements for data tools and visualizations; developing functional specifications and user stories; leading quality assurance and testing activities; and facilitating metrics definition and documentation. This role will work closely with program team members, subject matter experts, and clinical and health administrative stakeholders to deliver comprehensive documentation, requirements traceability, functional design specifications, use cases, indicator definitions, testing artifacts, and stakeholder sign-off materials.
This position is remote with the requirement to travel to the work location at least once per month throughout the engagement.
Qualifications
- University degree in Healthcare, Business Administration or Information Technology with direct Business Intelligence experience identifying requirements and developing dashboards and reporting tools, or equivalent combination of education and Business Intelligence work experience
- 10+ years - Canadian progressive experience in hospital or digital health environment supporting large-scale clinical information system implementations, digital health transformation programs, or provincial and regional health system modernization initiatives
- 8+ years - translating complex clinical, operational, and business needs into structured, implementation-ready requirements in a Business Intelligence environment, including reporting specifications, analytics frameworks, KPI definitions, dashboard requirements, standardization of data dictionaries, business rules and terminology
- 8+ years - exceptional verbal, written, and presentation skills to communicate, convey, and facilitate topics such as standardization of work, terminology, performance measures, reporting needs, or business processes to foster collaboration, obtain buy-in and consensus, and influence change to enable healthcare transformation
- 8+ years - demonstrated strong organizational skills to meticulously document decisions, synthesize discussions, maintain logs and registers, monitor progress against plans, and identify dependencies and risks
- 6+ years - achieving consensus across multiple organizations, programs, or stakeholder groups on standardized workflows, terminology, performance measures, reporting requirements, or business processes within complex Canadian healthcare environments
- 8+ years - analyzing and capturing current-state clinical and operational workflows and facilitating the design of future-state processes enabled by large-scale acute care Clinical Information Systems or other transformative digital health technologies
