Clinical Dietitian
Provides quality nutrition care in relation to the patient’s diagnosis, treatment, age group, nutrition status and other needs in the Outpatient Oncology setting. Provides a comprehensive assessment of nutritional status for medically complex patients by physical assessment, subjective data, patients Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and working in partnership with other members of the Interdisciplinary Team. Determiner’s patients’ nutritional needs and develops a comprehensive plan of care based on established guidelines and evidence-based research. Documents in the EMR using appropriate forms/formats within established guidelines. Provides initial and ongoing care based on patient needs. Identifies and provides for patient and family education needs, assesses barriers to learning, provides appropriate modalities, assesses patient understanding and documents interventions.
Work requires knowledge of theories, principles, & concepts normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor's degree in Nutritional Science/ closely related field + up to 1 yr of post degree course work and/or internship, minimum of 1 yr. clinical experience + 3-6 months of on job training/orientation. RD/RDN registration required. Oncology Board Certification preferred or required within the first three years of employment. Work requires the analytical ability to collect information from diverse sources, apply professional principles in performing various analyses, and summarize the information and data in order to solve problems OR design relatively complex systems and programs. Work requires the ability to counsel and educate patients and their families and perform other duties requiring a comparable level of communication skill.
