Clinical Laboratory Scientist

About the Position: This position is located within the A.T. Augusta Military Medical Center, in a Clinical Laboratory setting. The incumbent will be responsible for coordinating the full range of clinical laboratory services. This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Implement microbiology protocols.

Develop SOPs for bacteriology, mycology, parasitology, AFB, microscopy, organism identification, molecular testing, and antimicrobial susceptibility testing in accordance with CLSI and CAP standards.

Ensure Microbiology testing meet CAP accreditation requirements, regulatory expectations, and laboratory quality standards.

Oversee troubleshooting of microbiology instruments and methods, and manual testing procedures.

Resolve unusual results, testing discrepancies, contamination events, instrument issues, quality-control failures, and discordant culture or molecular findings.

Lead staff education and workflow prioritization.

Manage quality assurance and improvement activities.
