Wood is recruiting for a Commissioning Manager to join the team for an immediate start, supporting commissioning and start-up activities on a major EPCM refinery project for a key client project in Si Racha, Chonburi in Thailand. This role is offered as an initial 12-month contract with the opportunity to continue as an ongoing, longer-term assignment and available for both Thai Nationals / Expatriates.

Reporting to the Head of Commissioning your immediate focus will be supporting the commissioning and start-up activities on a major EPCM refinery project for a key client. You will bring to life Woods three pillar strategy of Inspired Culture, Delivery Excellence and Profitable Growth on the project. You will thrive on the challenge of balancing technical, team, client, and project leadership in this key site-based role with your focus on relationships and delivery, enabling you to anticipate project needs beyond the immediate scope. You will drive technical excellence and assurance on the Commissiong portion while working in close partnership with other disciplines and the client, to enable robust technical decisions that ultimately add value to the client and project.
In addition, you will:
- Lead the planning and execution of pre-commissioning, commissioning, start-up, and handover activities, including the development of commissioning strategies, procedures, start-up plans, and operating procedures
- Ensure all site execution activities are undertaken in accordance with Wood Group and project procedures, commissioning schedules, and applicable health, safety, and environmental standards
- Manage and coordinate the day-to-day activities of Wood Group Commissioning Engineers and Process Engineers to deliver safe and efficient commissioning outcomes
- Act as the primary day-to-day interface between the Client, Operations personnel, and Wood Group Construction teams on all commissioning-related matters
- Oversee plant verification, system testing, detailed plant checkouts against engineering flow diagrams, and the investigation and resolution of technical issues in collaboration with Wood Group specialist engineers and equipment suppliers
- Support client operational readiness by providing training, guidance, and advice on pre-commissioning, commissioning, start-up, and operational procedures
- Manage guarantee testing, completion and handover documentation, custody transfer requirements, and formal turnover of facilities to the Client
- Prepare project closeout and final commissioning reports, provide performance data to the Wood Group technical library, and ensure lessons learned are captured and incorporated into future Wood Group projects, standards, and design methods

Expected:
You must hold (or be eligible to obtain) legal working rights in Thailand. If you already have Thai work rights or have a visa or work permit application in progress, we encourage you to apply.
Suitably qualified with a bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline from a recognised institution, ideally with 15+ years of proven experience in a similar Commissioning leadership role on a major EPCM project within the Refinery, Petrochemical or Oil & Gas Processing sector with a major contractor, operator or services company.
In addition, you will:
- Have technical expertise on all process and commissioning aspects of Refining/ Petrochemical/Oil and Gas projects with demonstrated experience delivering within a challenging and complex multi-discipline environment
- Be a leader of people with several years of supervisory experience, capable of engendering an entrepreneurial spirit of cooperation and energising diverse teams to adopt best practice, driving optimal performance with safety at the heart of everything we do
- Have a “solutions mindset” and able to manage varying tasks with often changing and competing priorities supported by excellent organisational and time management skills
- Have a good standard of general computer literacy with knowledge of databases, spreadsheets and engineering programs
- Have proven experience of interpreting discipline documentation and ability to monitor work progress, and report against the plan
- Have excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) complemented by your ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural project team
Desirable:
What will set you apart will be your provern experience in a similar Commissioning Manager role with relevant experience across hydrotreater / hydrocracker refinery projects. Holding chartered engineer status along with Thai language (Basic to Intermediate) is advantageous - not essential.
