Wood is currently recruiting for a Commissioning Supervisor – Process to join the team for an immediate start, supporting commissioning and start-up activities on a major EPCM project for a key client project in Chonburi, Thailand. This role is offered as an initial 12-month contract with the opportunity to continue as an ongoing, longer-term assignment.

Reporting to the Head of Commissioning your immediate focus will be supporting the commissioning and start-up activities on a major EPCM project for a key client. You will bring to life Woods three pillar strategy of Inspired Culture, Delivery Excellence and Profitable Growth on the project. Leading by example, you will consistently display and enforce Wood values and behaviours, and commitment to the highest standards of safe and ethical behaviour, to ensure safe, reliable operations and client satisfaction.
You will thrive on the challenge of balancing technical, team, client, and project leadership in this key site-based role with your focus on relationships and delivery, enabling you to anticipate project needs beyond the immediate scope. You will drive technical excellence and assurance on the Commissiong portion while working in close partnership with other disciplines and the client, to enable robust technical decisions that ultimately add value to the client and project.
In addition, you will:
- Work with engineers and vendors in the design phases to align handover and commissioning activities including working to troubleshoot, investigate problems and diagnose and repair faults
- Participate in workshops on design aspects that may assist in pre-commissioning, commissioning and start-up activities
- Attend P&ID hazard and model reviews
- Review cause and effect diagrams and spare parts orders
- Develop and submit commissioning record (closeout) documentation throughout the project in line with documentation plan
- Prepare of project documentation including pre-commissioning and commissioning procedures
- Provide input to operational procedures and create and carry out test procedures
- Be responsible for the supervision of site commissioning activities, including P&ID checking (system check/walk-down/punching), mechanical completion, pre commissioning, cold commissioning (dry/wet), hot commissioning
- Attend and participate in pre-start up safety review with client and construction contractor (and PMC and licensor as appropriate)
- Interface with Operations Team in commissioning, start-up and final turnover of the facility/plant

Expected:
You must hold, or be eligible to obtain, legal working rights in Thailand. If you already have Thai work rights or have a visa or work permit application in progress, we encourage you to apply.
- Diploma or degree qualified in Chemical Engineering or equivalent combination of qualifications and experience
- Be a leader of people with several years of supervisory experience, capable of engendering an entrepreneurial spirit of cooperation and energising diverse teams to adopt best practice, driving optimal performance with safety at the heart of everything we do.
- Appropriate level of commissioning experience in relevant industry sector, typically a minimum of 7 years of engineering experience if degree qualified OR trade discipline qualified with a minimum 10-year relevant practical experience
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) complemented by your ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural project team
- Excellent organisational and time management with an ability to maintain an overview of multiple elements of a project, while managing delivery of day-to-day activities
- Good standard of general computer literacy with knowledge of databases, spreadsheets and engineering programs
- An ability to work under pressure, when necessary, while still delivering within a challenging and complex environment
- A “solutions mindset” and able to manage varying tasks with often changing and competing priorities
- Fully conversant with regards to discipline technical knowledge
- Proven experience of interpreting discipline documentation and ability to monitor work progress, and report against the plan
Desirable:
What will set you apart will be your previous experience working in a similar role with proven experience across hydrotreater / hydrocracker refinery projects. Thai language (Basic to Intermediate) advantageous but not essential.
