Communications Lead, Growth

Summary

Own and scale Deriv's corporate narrative across media, employees, candidates, and AI assistants using AI-powered workflows and strategic storytelling in a regulated fintech.

You'll own what Deriv says to journalists, employees, candidates, and the AI assistants people ask about us. You'll build and defend a single corporate narrative, convert recurring manual comms tasks into governed AI workflows, and lead internal change communications as we transform our operating model.

The centre of gravity is corporate communications: one narrative, held inside and outside the company as the same story. Employer brand is one surface that narrative shows up on. The AI operating model is the method. Earned placement is how the narrative pays its way. If this reads as four departments' worth of work, read it again as one story with four exits.

The platforms will change; the narrative won't. Today it lives across LinkedIn, X, review platforms, newsletters, and AI assistants. Tomorrow's list is yours to shape. You are not a channel manager. The platforms work for the story, never the reverse.

This isn't standard press release distribution or channel management. It's directing a high-impact, AI-powered corporate communications engine where your editorial judgment, system design, and strategic storytelling define how the world—and our global team—sees Deriv.

Why This Matters

Deriv is undergoing a massive AI-driven operational transformation while operating as a regulated global broker serving millions of traders. In a world where AI search tools answer questions about our brand before a human ever visits a website, having a machine-readable, unified corporate story is critical.

Your strategic messaging across media, internal change moments, and employer brand directly determines our external credibility, employee trust during major transitions, and our ability to attract top global talent.

Your mission is to own Deriv's narrative across media, employees, candidates, and the AI assistants people now ask instead of searching, while rebuilding the communications function so every recurring manual task becomes a governed AI workflow.

Why Deriv
  • Direct an AI-powered comms engine. You won't fight for tools or wait in IT ticket queues. You’ll leverage a top-grade AI stack, including an in-house content engine, automated story pipelines across 17 locales, and automated podcast production workflows.

  • Build side-by-side with AI Engineers. You bring the editorial judgment and communications requirements; a dedicated team of AI engineers builds the machinery. Your workflow prototypes become live production systems.

  • High-impact ownership and executive visibility. As an individual contributor with functional ownership, you’ll advise senior leadership directly on change communications and manage media/vendor budgets without navigating bureaucratic layers.

What You’ll Do

  • Define and defend one corporate narrative told across four core audiences: media, current employees, candidates, and AI assistants. Structure that narrative so machines can find, cite, and repeat it accurately.
  • Secure earned media attention, running end-to-end PR, podcast pitching, and speaking placements using AI content systems. Placement is a number here, not a hope.
  • Lead internal change communications, serving as a trusted adviser during restructures, leadership transitions, and operational change. When internal and external demands collide, internal comes first.
  • Manage employer brand as the external expression of the internal truth, translating culture into authentic stories across LinkedIn, review platforms, and future channels.
  • Produce Deriv's podcast output end-to-end using human-in-the-loop AI workflows for scripting, editing, transcription, and content atomisation while maintaining final editorial authority. Every episode should generate clips, posts, quotes, and future media opportunities through the same workflow.
  • Redesign recurring communications work by inventorying manual tasks, rebuilding them as governed AI-assisted workflows with explicit quality gates, and partnering with AI engineers to productionise what works.
  • Track narrative impact and share of voice, prototyping your own AI-assisted measurement rather than waiting for dashboards. If something can't be measured, say so, then fix the tracking or stop doing it.

Who You Are

  • Typically 5+ years across corporate communications, PR, or internal communications, but evidence of judgment, systems thinking, and AI workflow ownership counts for more than years alone.
  • You've worked through at least one difficult company moment—a restructure, crisis, pivot, or leadership change—close enough to understand how the communications shaped the outcome.
  • You've built AI-assisted communications or editorial workflows with defined review criteria, risk controls, and measurable outputs that go well beyond prompting chat tools.
  • You can show how you evaluated those workflows: what you tested, what failed, and what you retired.
  • Comfortable translating communications needs into product requirements that AI engineers can build.
  • Sharp editorial judgment in British English. AI writes first drafts; you decide what's publishable.
  • Sound judgment with confidential, sensitive, and reputationally significant information.
  • Comfortable working directly with senior leaders, drafting in their voice, learning quickly, and saying so when something doesn't read right.

The Honest Reality

This is an office-based role in Malaysia or Dubai designed for a hands-on individual contributor—you scale through AI workflows and engineering partnerships rather than managing a traditional direct-report team. You will be writing the comms playbook from scratch while guiding internal teams through real operational change inside a regulated fintech.

The work demands high editorial taste, AI system design, and diplomatic courage during sensitive change moments. In return, you get full narrative ownership and the mandate to build a modern corporate communications function backed by world-class AI engineering support.
