Community Support Worker

Bayshore HealthCare is one of the country's leading providers of home and community health care services and is a Canadian-owned company. With locations across the country, including more than 80 home care offices, 11 pharmacies, and over 100 community care clinics, Bayshore has more than 18,000 staff members and provides care to over 350,000 clients annually.

As a Community Support Worker, you will support adults with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), and/or Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) to live safely, independently, and meaningfully within their homes and communities. Responsibilities include assisting with activities of daily living, personal care, meal planning and preparation, housekeeping and homemaking tasks, medication reminders, community participation, appointments, social and recreational activities, and the development of independent living skills.

The successful candidate will build respectful, person-centred relationships that promote dignity, choice, inclusion, and quality of life while supporting each individual's unique goals and strengths. Community Support Workers play an important role in helping clients participate fully in their communities, develop life skills, foster meaningful relationships, and achieve greater independence.

While community inclusion and skill development are important aspects of the role, a significant portion of support is currently focused on homemaking, housekeeping, organization, decluttering, and helping clients maintain safe, healthy, and functional living environments. Successful candidates will be comfortable providing hands-on homemaking, cleaning, organization, and household support, including working in homes that may be cluttered, disorganized, or require extensive organization and decluttering assistance.

Please note\: This is a part-time position averaging approximately 15 hours per week. This role requires regular travel to support clients throughout Nanaimo, Duncan, and surrounding communities. Applicants must possess a valid BC driver's license and have access to a reliable vehicle. Mileage reimbursement is provided for approved work-related travel.

· Support clients with meal planning, grocery shopping, meal preparation, and other household management tasks.

· Assist with activities of daily living, including personal care, hygiene, grooming, dressing, and medication reminders as required.

· Support participation in appointments, errands, recreational activities, and community-based opportunities.

· Build positive, respectful relationships that promote dignity, independence, and quality of life.

Maintain professional boundaries while following care plans, documenting services, and reporting safety concerns or changes in client needs.
