Summary

Our client Adelaide Online Computers is an established South Australian technology business that has served customers since 2002, expanding from an online computer retailer into a comprehensive retail and IT services operation. Our client is seeking to add a Computer Network and Systems Engineer to support its growing business and retail customer base through reliable network, systems and technology solutions.

The typical job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

• Analyse and evaluate system architecture specifications, data models and network design requirements.

• Research, assess and monitor network infrastructure to maintain reliable and optimal system performance.

• Install, configure, test and administer networks, servers, workstations and associated software applications.

• Configure and maintain routers, switches, wireless access points and other network infrastructure.

• Provide specialist troubleshooting support for network faults, system issues and technical emergencies.

• Recommend improvements to network operations, hardware, software, communications and operating systems.

• Monitor network traffic, capacity, activity and usage to maintain system integrity and performance.

• Configure VPNs and VLANs to support secure client networks and protect business data.

• Develop network programming solutions tailored to specific client and operational business requirements.

• Prepare and maintain network documentation covering inventory, faults, resolutions, modifications and maintenance procedures.

• Perform scheduled data backups using appropriate backup, recovery and system management technologies.

• Support DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP and other network protocols across customer and business environments.

• Provide technical assistance through telephone, email, remote support, ticketing systems and onsite visits.

• Diagnose and resolve complex Windows, network connectivity, server and workstation performance issues.

• Maintain network systems across multiple operating environments while ensuring continued operational readiness and reliability.

Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for the role:

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Networking, Computer Science or another closely related discipline is required.

• Minimum 12 months' recent, directly relevant experience as a Network Engineer or closely comparable systems networking professional.

• Demonstrated experience configuring and supporting LAN, WAN, VPN and VLAN network environments is essential.

• Strong practical knowledge of TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, network devices and common networking protocols is required.

• Experience installing, configuring, maintaining and troubleshooting servers, workstations, routers, switches and wireless access points is required.

• Demonstrated capability monitoring network performance, diagnosing faults and implementing practical improvements to network operations is essential.

• Experience supporting Windows environments, backup solutions, network security and virtualised or cloud-based technologies is highly desirable.

• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, communication and customer service skills with the ability to work independently are required.
