Connect User Tester
Description
Work Location:
Remote - USASchedule:
Part timeTo advance the purpose of InterVarsity, this role tests Connect, the student data app InterVarsity is building with Gloo, so that field staff meet a reliable tool the first time they open it. Working through the app as Campus Staff Ministers, student leaders, and Area Directors will use it, this role finds where it breaks or confuses and documents each issue clearly enough for the project team and Gloo to fix it. Reporting to the User Adoption Specialist, this role helps make sure what surfaces in testing reaches product improvement before it reaches the field.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Personal:
- Be a maturing disciple of Jesus Christ: growing in love for God, God's Word, God's people of every ethnicity and culture, and God's purposes in the world
- Pursue growth in user adoption methodology, adult learning principles, and field ministry dynamics relevant to InterVarsity’s campus staff context.
Test Planning:
· Learn Connect’s features and the field workflows it supports, then work with the User Adoption Specialist and project team to write role-based test scripts for Campus Staff Ministers, student leaders, and Area Directors
· Set up test accounts and sample student records so testing does not rely on real student data unless the project team approves it
Test Execution:
· Run scripted and exploratory tests on mobile and desktop before each pilot window and release, and retest after each Gloo update to confirm fixes hold
· Confirm student data saves and syncs correctly, including through the Salesforce integration, and that each role sees only the student data it should
· Flag steps that confuse a first-time user or take longer than they should, even when nothing is technically broken
Issue Reporting:
· Log each issue with steps to reproduce, screenshots, device details, and a severity rating, then retest fixes and keep the issue log current
· Escalate any issue that blocks a pilot or exposes student data to the User Adoption Specialist the same day
· Provide the User Adoption Specialist with a weekly summary of open and resolved issues, along with patterns that should shape onboarding or product changes
Team Contribution:
· Handle sensitive data with appropriate security and confidentiality, and maintain posted working hours with telecommuting as allowed by the supervisor
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
· National Service Center or a designated home office, with no regular travel required
· Up to 20 hours per week on a flexible schedule, with some hours shifted to match release dates and pilot windows
· Smartphone and computer access required; additional test devices provided as needed
QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent experience
· 1 year of experience in software testing, quality assurance, or technical support preferred but willing to train the right candidate
· Comfortable using mobile apps on iOS and Android and web apps across major browsers
· Careful attention to detail, with the ability to write bug reports another person can reproduce without follow-up questions
· Familiarity with campus ministry, such as experience as an InterVarsity chapter student leader, strongly preferred
· Experience with Salesforce or an issue tracking tool such as Jira is a plus
· Demonstrated discretion in handling sensitive personal data
· Effective oral and written communication skills
· Strong critical thinker with problem solving aptitude
