Stantec is seeking a Construction Project Engineer to support the delivery of major water and wastewater infrastructure projects throughout British Columbia. Working as part of a multidisciplinary project team, you will provide on-site engineering, construction oversight, contract administration, and coordination services during project execution.

In this role, you will work closely with clients, contractors, project managers, and technical specialists to support construction activities, monitor progress, facilitate communication between stakeholders, and help ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with contract requirements. Responsibilities

  • Perform Field Services tasks on behalf of the Owner, including construction administration related processes and document controls throughout the Construction period of the project.
  • Coordinate with design disciplines to complete delegated professional services during construction phase including coordination and scheduling of field review and reports, and processing of RFIs, site instructions, change orders, shop drawings, submittals, deficiency lists.
  • Review submittals for consistency with design intent, building code compliance, and constructability, and coordinate reviews with the Owner and Engineer teams.
  • Conduct regular site observations to verify conformity with design drawings and specifications. Document field observations, identify non-conformances, and issue formal reports and recommendations for corrective action.
  • Act as Owner’s Representative in site-based discussions involving the Engineer and Contractor.
  • Track construction progress and contribute to clear, timely reporting. Anticipate upcoming project needs, identify risks early, and support issue resolution.
  • Leads project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor, sub-contractors, and vendors.
  • Participates in client project requirement meetings.
  • Contribute to a safety-first work environment in compliance with Stantec’s health, safety, security and environmental policies and procedures.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil, Mechanical, Chemical, Environmental Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 8+ years of relevant experience in municipal water, wastewater, or industrial water infrastructure projects, including experience coordinating multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility for registration with EGBC is preferred.
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams and technical reviews.
  • Experience facilitating meetings and coordinating input from multiple stakeholders.
  • Understanding of wastewater treatment facility planning, design, and construction is considered a strong asset.
  • Familiarity with BIM processes and coordination of technical reviews across multiple disciplines is considered an asset.
  • Strong organizational, communication, technical writing, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with clients and project teams.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and good driving record.
