Wood (trading locally as WOOD KSS LLP) is looking to hire a Team Lead – Consulting Services (Expression of Interest) to grow our specialist consultancy business in Kazakhstan for services including asset health and integrity management, automation and systems integration. The successful candidate will be responsible for client engagement, business development and establishing contracts with conventional O&G operating companies in-country.

The Business Manager is the critical link between Wood’s global expertise, local skills and leadership and our growing client demand in-country. The candidate will be an excellent integrator, communicator, and international collaborator.

An individual with a technical background in conventional O&G operational integrity management / maintenance is preferred, however this is not strictly required. This is a full-time position based in Atyrau, Kazakhstan. This position is open to both nationals and international candidates. Knowledge of the local market is an advantage.

  • Act as the primary focal point for our growing specialist engineering services offering in Kazakhstan
  • Assist with local business development with our major clients and building our portfolio of work
  • Assist the local and global tendering teams with creation of ‘Cost, Time, Resource’ (CTR) quotations and writing of technical proposals
  • Accountable for the planning, resourcing and execution of the various consultancy workscopes utilising both local and global resources
  • Assist the business with budgeting, intercompany agreements and invoicing
  • Interfacing with in-country stakeholders (Client/Wood/Other 3rd parties) for smooth technical delivery and to aid efficient cost management
  • Proactive growth of a local delivery team, including resourcing, recruitment, interviewing and onboarding. Ownership of our specialist skills nationalisation plan
  • Coordinate with support functions such as cost control, HR, finance, and HSEQ
  • Build strong working relationships across all stakeholders within client organisation to ensure that requirements are understood and expectations are appropriately managed
  • Provides support as required to audits e.g. verification, client, internal, etc. If applicable conduct periodic site audits e.g. Management visits
  • Assist with urgent issues which may arise out of hours
  • Ensure that company policies, procedures and controls are adhered to & assists with maintaining compliance with local authority requirements
  • Engineering or Management Degree with demonstrated practical experience in oil and gas sector
  • Demonstrable experience in an O&G operational integrity management/ maintenance environment
  • Significant and demonstrable experience with management of technical work-scopes
  • A working knowledge of international engineering consultancy operating model, including commercial remuneration (reimbursable / LS), target market segment and overall value proposition
  • Credible, trustworthy and concise communicator
  • Demonstrates established skills in management and leadership, team building, conflict resolution and capability building
  • Experienced in the implementation of industry best practices and multinational level systems, processes and standards
  • Proven ability to apply sound judgment and analytical skills due to the complex and diversified nature of the position
