Contracts Engineer
Job Summary
The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing project costs throughout the project lifecycle, from tender preparation to final account settlement. The role involves cost estimation, tendering, procurement, contract administration, and cost control to ensure projects are completed within budget while meeting quality and contractual requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare cost estimates, budgets, and tender submissions.
- Review drawings, specifications, and project requirements for quantity take-offs and cost planning.
- Prepare Bills of Quantities (BQ), schedules of rates, and other tender documents.
- Source quotations from suppliers and subcontractors and evaluate submissions.
- Assist in procurement and subcontract award processes.
- Monitor project costs and prepare cost reports and cash flow forecasts.
- Evaluate and process progress claims, variation orders, and final accounts.
- Administer contracts and ensure compliance with contractual terms and conditions.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders on project-related matters.
- Attend project meetings and provide commercial support to project teams.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend value engineering solutions where appropriate.
- Maintain accurate project records and documentation.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Company.
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Quantity Surveying, Building, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Relevant working experience in quantity surveying or cost management within the construction industry.
- Good knowledge of tendering, procurement, contract administration, and cost control.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
- Familiarity with quantity surveying or BIM software will be an advantage.
- Good analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Meticulous, organised, and able to manage multiple tasks within tight timelines.
