Job Description

We are looking for a motivated and hardworking Commis 1 to join the kitchen team at Cugini. The successful candidate will support daily kitchen operations, food preparation and service while maintaining high standards of food quality, hygiene and consistency.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with daily food preparation and mise en place.

• Prepare ingredients according to recipes and kitchen standards.

• Support the Chef de Partie and senior kitchen team during service.

• Cook and plate dishes according to Cugini's standards.

• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen and workstations.

• Follow proper food safety, hygiene and storage procedures.

• Monitor ingredient quality and report shortages or wastage.

• Assist with receiving, storing and rotating kitchen supplies.

• Minimise food wastage and maintain proper portion control.

• Support opening and closing kitchen duties.

• Work effectively as part of the kitchen team during busy service periods.

• Perform other kitchen duties assigned by the Chef or Kitchen Manager.

Requirements

• 1–2 years of kitchen experience preferred.

• Culinary qualification is an advantage.

• Basic knowledge of Italian/European cuisine is preferred.

• Good understanding of food hygiene and kitchen safety.

• Able to work in a fast-paced environment.

• Team player with a positive attitude.

• Willing to learn and develop culinary skills.

• Able to work shifts, weekends and public holidays.
