Job Description:
The Credential Coordinator ensures that practitioners (Physicians, Podiatrists, Dentists, Psychologists, and Advanced Practice Providers) are properly credentialed in order to comply with applicable legal, professional, and regulatory requirements.
- Manages the credentialing process for all applicants to the Medical Staff and/or Advanced Practice Provider staff as well as those seeking an extension of their clinical privileges.
- Collaborates with managers and directors of other hospital departments to ensure that Physicians and Advanced Practice Providers are only performing procedures for which they are credentialed.
- Active participant on Credentials Committee. Coordinates related materials for committee action and prepares report for Medical Executive Committee and Board of Directors for final approval.
- Manages Physician and Advanced Practice Providers Peer Review process related to Credentialing and Privileging.
- Active participant in process improvement related to Credentialing and Privileging.
- Conducts research around credentialing criteria for new procedures and collaborates with Medical Staff leadership in the development of new privileges and clinical programs.
- Manages credentialing database including implementation of new programs and updates.
- Other duties as assigned.
