Job Description:
The Peer Review Coordinator manages the Medical Staff/Advanced Practice Provider peer review process consistent with guidelines set forth by the Fairfield Medical Center (FMC) medical staff and regulatory agencies; assists with Physician and Advanced Practice Provider performance improvement initiatives, coordinates clinical and non-clinical performance improvement according to regulatory standards and organizational goals.
- Under the direction of the Manager of Medical Staff Services, the Medical Staff Peer Review Coordinator manages the Medical Staff and Advanced Practice Provider peer review process by supporting the Credentials Committee, Medical Staff Quality Committee (MSQC), and Practitioner Effectiveness Committee (PEC) by researching and coordinating cases and focused reviews. This includes abstracting, reviewing, analyzing and summarizing medical records for use in the Medical Staff and Advanced Practice Provider peer review process.
- Manages Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation (OPPE) and assists with Focused Professional Practice Evaluation (FPPE) reports.
- Manages all Medical Staff Peer Review meetings and serves as a liaison between various committees to facilitate communication and referral of cases for further physician review, and report results back to referring committee.
- Assists with development and implementation of strategies for improving performance.
- Prepares and provides information for departmental improvement activities, credentialing, and reappointment.
- Prepares and coordinates responses to accreditation and regulatory surveys or visits with a focus on medical staff quality.
- Maintains knowledge of The Joint Commission and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services requirements pertaining to the medical staff peer review process.
- Maintains knowledge of the FMC Medical Staff Bylaws and related policies.
- Other duties as assigned.
