Salary: $70,000 – $90,000 per year

Work in an agile DevSecOps Team to help protect, respond and adapt to cybersecurity threats.

AlterSec has been providing cybersecurity services, from security operations to incident response and penetration testing, for over 10 years throughout ANZ and beyond.

We are looking for a CyberSecurity Analyst to join our small hands-on team based in Auckland North Shore, a real opportunity to get broad exposure to all areas of cybersecurity and real ownership across various tasks, depending on skills and experience.

The role is for someone curious, dedicated and analytic that loves challenges and learning, with a strong ethical and professional character.

The role is primarily for someone in their early-stage cybersecurity career however we will consider experienced candidates. The appointment and remuneration will be based on the candidate’s overall skills, experience and fit with our company vision and mission.

What will you do:

  • Monitoring support requests, security events and case triaging

  • Investigating security events and escalating incidents

  • Documenting and reviewing guidelines, policies and procedures

  • Assessing, implementing and maintaining security controls

  • Designing, coding, testing and maintaining cybersecurity solutions

  • Participate in security reviews, pen-testing and other engagements as required

  • Continuously monitor risks and seek opportunities to improve

Must have:

  • Relevant degrees in IT, Engineering or equivalent, however candidates with non-technical background yet practical experience and/or proven commitment to cybersecurity are accepted

  • Familiarity with service desk processes and dealing with IT or cybersecurity incident escalations is essential

  • Proven hands-on experience across the Microsoft 365 security stack

  • Excellent English communication and documentation skills, both written and oral

  • Highly organized with the ability to multitask, while still maintaining attention to detail, and delivering under pressure

  • Exceptional customer service focus with the ability to manage expectations and deliver services that meet customer needs

Desirable:

  • Information security best practices, especially incident response

  • AI, coding and automation hands-on experience

  • Linux and Windows System Administration

  • Cloud configuration management, Azure and AWS

  • Management of security tools, e.g.: SIEMs, Identity, Endpoint and Email protection, Web Application Firewalls, Threat Intel and Vulnerability management solutions

  • Industry certifications are a plus but not a must

We require the applicant to be eligible to work in New Zealand, preferably with immediate availability.
