Your opportunity
As a Data Analytics Engineer, you will design, build, and supportDairyNZ’sdata and analytics capabilities, enabling trusted, accessible, andfit‑for‑purposeinsights. This role combines data engineering and business intelligenceexpertiseto deliver reliable data pipelines, models, reporting, and dashboards that support both strategic and operationaldecision-making.
You’llwork closely with the Digital Solutions Lead, Digital Technologies colleagues, and business stakeholders across statistics, benchmarking, business services, and science and research.You’llalso playan important rolein uplifting data quality, reuse, and readiness forAI‑enabledanalytics, ensuring responsible AI practices are applied in line with organisational standards.
Whatyou’llbe doing
Reporting to theDigital Solutions Lead,you willsupport theDigital Technologiesteam,including:
Designing, building, andmaintainingsecure,well governeddata pipelines and analytics models.
Developing curated datasets and semantic models to support reuse andself-serviceinsights.
Deliveringhigh-qualityPower BI reports and dashboards with clear data storytelling.
Implementing and monitoring data quality controls to ensure trusted and reliable insights.
Supporting the adoption ofAI‑enabledanalytics by uplifting data readiness and applying responsible AI practices, including privacy, security, and quality considerations.
Partnering with business stakeholders to translate analytics needs into practical data products.
Working collaboratively with Data Stewards and external partners to support effective data lifecycle management and continuous improvement.
Providing technical input to projects and supporting operational processes within the Digital Technologies environment.

You’llbring a passion for using data to deliver meaningful,real-worldoutcomes and a genuine interest in contributing to the future of New Zealand dairy farming. Witha strong foundationin data, analytics, or technology (ideally supported by a relevant tertiary qualification), you enjoy getting to the heart of complex information and turning it into trusted, practical insights. As a collaborative team player and subject matter expert,you’lldemonstrateintegrity and professionalism while bringing curiosity, energy, and a constructive mindset to everything you do.
We’dlove to hear from you if you have:
A tertiary qualification in Information and Communications Technology (or equivalent experience).
Approximately 5+ years’ experience in a data analytics, data engineering, or related role.
Experience designing and working with data warehouses and analytics platforms.
Strong capability with tools such as Snowflake,dbt, Power BI, SQL Server, Azure data services, and T‑SQL.
Experience managing and working with complex data sets in adata richenvironment.
An understanding ofAI‑enabledanalytics and data readiness (experience with AI platforms is an advantage).
Strong communicationskills and the ability to work effectively with both technical andnontechnicalstakeholders.
