Data / Backend Engineer (Python, API & Analytics Focus)
Summary
Build and maintain Python-based APIs, ETL pipelines, and databases to power data-driven applications and integrations for clients.
Overview
- Design, develop and maintain APIs to support data-driven applications and integrations
- Build and manage scalable data models, schemas, and data structures
- Develop, optimize and maintain databases using SQL and MongoDB
- Design and implement ETL pipelines for data ingestion, transformation and processing
- Gather user requirements and translate business needs into technical solutions
- Provide user support for dashboards and data applications (troubleshooting, issue resolution)
- Support and maintain dashboards, ensuring data accuracy, reliability and performance
- Perform data validation, debugging and root cause analysis
- Ensure best practices in code quality, documentation and version control
Qualifications
- Degree in Computer Science or related field (preferred)
- Proficient in Python for data processing and backend development
- Experience in API development (e.g. RESTful services)
- Strong understanding of data modelling and data structures
- Experience in ETL development and data pipeline design
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g. MongoDB)
- Good communication skills for requirements gathering and user support
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Experience in dashboard tools (e.g. Qlik Sense) is an advantage
- Familiar with backend frameworks (e.g. FastAPI, Django) is a plus
