Datacenter Operations Specialists (2 Positions)

About the Role

We are seeking two experienced and hands-on Datacenter Operations Specialists to support the build, configuration, and ongoing operation of a new resiliency site as part of a major datacenter transformation program.

This is a highly operational role focused on the physical datacenter environment. The successful candidates will play a critical part in ensuring the availability, reliability, and operational excellence of both the existing Amstelveen datacenter and the new resiliency site.

The role requires a practical, execution-focused mindset with extensive hands-on involvement in hardware installation, structured cabling, audits, asset management, and operational maintenance activities. Participation in a 24x7 on-call rotation is required to support incidents and execute critical changes outside standard business hours.

You will be part of the Datacenter Operations Team, working closely with engineering, infrastructure, and project teams to deliver and maintain world-class datacenter operations.

Key Responsibilities

Asset & Configuration Management

Maintain and update datacenter asset inventories and configurations.
Ensure accurate and timely documentation within the CMDB (Configuration Management Database).
Support asset lifecycle management and compliance requirements.

Datacenter Operations

Execute daily operational activities within the datacenter environment.
Monitor systems and infrastructure, respond to incidents, and manage escalations.
Perform and support planned changes while ensuring minimal operational impact.
Maintain compliance with operational procedures, standards, and best practices.
Install, configure, troubleshoot, and replace hardware components.
Conduct physical audits and maintain accurate hardware inventory records.
Prepare and manage racks, PDUs, connectivity infrastructure, and associated equipment.

Structured Cabling (Hands-On)

Design, install, and maintain structured cabling systems, including fiber and copper.
Perform patching, cable routing, labeling, and cable management activities.
Work safely and efficiently within MDFs, IDFs, and datacenter halls.
Ensure cabling installations meet industry standards and operational requirements.

Datacenter Design & Infrastructure Support

Collaborate with engineering teams on datacenter layouts, rack elevations, and cabling designs.
Review and validate infrastructure designs from an operational perspective.
Support adherence to datacenter standards, best practices, and internal guidelines.

Technical Requirements

10+ years of proven hands-on experience in Datacenter Operations or related infrastructure environments.
Strong practical expertise in:
Rack installation and deployment
Structured cabling and patch management
Fiber and copper connectivity
Hardware installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting
Reading and interpreting datacenter floorplans, layouts, and rack elevations
Power distribution systems and PDUs
Basic cooling and environmental infrastructure concepts
CMDB processes, asset management, and change management procedures

Certifications Required:

CDCP (Certified Data Centre Professional) or willingness to obtain certification

Preferred:

CNCDP (Certified Network Cable Design Professional)
Equivalent datacenter cabling or infrastructure certifications
