Role Overview - Data Center MEP Procurement Engineer

On behalf of a leading Tier-1 MEP Contractor in Dubai, we are headhunting a specialized Procurement Engineer. Unlike standard construction, Data Center projects require a \"zero-failure\" mindset. You will manage the sourcing of high-stakes infrastructure where every component must meet strict international uptime standards.

Core Responsibilities - Data Center MEP Procurement Engineer

• Mission-Critical Sourcing:
  • Lead procurement for high-voltage Electrical equipment: Modular UPS Systems, MV/LV Switchgear, Dry-type Transformers, and 2000kVA+ Diesel Generators.
  • Manage Mechanical/Cooling requirements: CRAC/CRAH units, In-row cooling, High-capacity Chillers, and specialized Liquid Cooling systems for AI clusters.
  • Source specialized Fire & Security systems: Gas-based suppression (FM-200/Novec) and VESDA smoke detection.
• Technical Vetting & Compliance:
  • Ensure all materials comply with Uptime Institute Tier III and Tier IV certification requirements.
  • Review Electrical Single Line Diagrams (SLDs) and P&IDs to verify equipment redundancy (N+1, 2N).
  • Conduct technical bid evaluations to ensure vendor offerings match exact consultant specifications.
  • Liaise with local authorities including DEWA and Civil Defense for material approvals.
• Strategic Supply Chain Management:
  • Manage \"Long-Lead\" items with 40–50 week delivery windows to ensure no project delays.
  • Develop and maintain a Critical Equipment Tracker for real-time reporting to Project Managers.
  • Coordinate Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) with international manufacturers before shipment.
  • Oversee complex logistics and site delivery for heavy-lift MEP assets.
• Commercial & Vendor Negotiation:
  • Manage relationships with Tier-1 global partners: Schneider Electric, ABB, Vertiv, Siemens, Cummins, and Caterpillar.
  • Negotiate project-specific pricing, extended warranty terms, and site-commissioning support.
  • Perform value engineering to optimize costs without compromising \"Fault-Tolerant\" design integrity.

Mandatory Candidate Requirements - Data Center Procurement Engineer

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering is mandatory.
• Specific Experience: Minimum one full lifecycle Data Center project successfully completed in the UAE or GCC.
• General Experience: 1 to 2 years of MEP procurement for Data Centers experience within the UAE market.
• Technical Proficiency:
  • Ability to read and interpret complex MEP coordination drawings.
  • Strong expertise in ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics.
• Soft Skills: Exceptional negotiation tactics and the ability to work under the high-pressure deadlines of fast-track infrastructure projects.
