Data Engineer ( 102-08SENG-01 )
Summary
Migrate a SQL Server enterprise data warehouse and SSIS integration layer from Azure to AWS, preserving 600+ stored procedures and 1,060 pipeline dependencies while maintaining ODS→EDW→BI workflows.
This role migrates a SQL Server enterprise data warehouse and its SSIS integration layer from Azure to AWS — the Microsoft data stack, not the open-source one. The scope for year one: 70% of the client's data workloads still run on this SQL Server warehouse (the remaining 30% has already moved to Databricks), with 1,060 stored procedure call dependencies from pipelines that must keep resolving through the migration. The SSIS package estate (SSISDB) loads the Operational Data Store and the warehouse, driven by configurable runtime values, and the ODS→EDW→BI dependency chain — including PowerShell-triggered SSIS runs for CRM and core business application feeds — must stay intact throughout.
What you will do
Migrate the SQL Server enterprise data warehouse from Azure VMs to AWS, preserving the ODS to EDW to BI dependency chain.
Move and re-point SSIS packages, including those triggered by PowerShell after upstream file downloads.
Keep 600+ stored procedures and 1,060 pipeline call dependencies working, and refactor the ones that cannot come across as-is.
Reconcile row counts and business measures against source before cutover.
Required
Real experience building and operating SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) packages. Central to this role.
Advanced T-SQL: able to read a 500-line stored procedure and explain what it actually does.
SQL Server Enterprise Edition in production, including performance tuning.
Dimensional modeling: star schemas, slowly changing dimensions, and the judgment to know when to rebuild versus lift-and-shift.
Working-level AWS (EC2, RDS, S3); certification expected within the first year if not already held.
Proven experience validating that a migrated warehouse is correct, not just moved.
Professional written and spoken English.
Nice to have
SSRS, SSAS/OLAP cubes, Power BI, AWS DMS, AWS Glue, Databricks, Python, PowerShell, Informatica, dbt, financial services reporting, CRM data.
