Senior Data & Analytics Engineer (Azure Cloud Transition)

Summary

Lead a full cloud transformation to Azure by building ETL/ELT pipelines with Azure Data Factory and Microsoft Fabric, optimizing Azure SQL Managed Instances, supporting legacy SSIS/SSAS systems, and delivering Power BI semantic models and dashboards.

Department: Digital & Technology

Positions Available: 2 (Contract - Renewable)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Lead Data & Analytics Engineer to drive our full cloud transformation. Our organization is transitioning to a cloud environment on Azure, and we need a hands‑on technical lead to execute this migration while managing hybrid infrastructure and delivering end‑to‑end analytics.

In this role, you will modernize data pipelines using Azure Data Factory and Microsoft Fabric, optimize Azure SQL Managed Instances, and maintain legacy on‑premise solutions (SSIS, SSAS) migrated to cloud VMs. Beyond engineering, you will build robust semantic models in Power BI to deliver business‑ready insights following strict Agile and SDLC governance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cloud Migration & Data Engineering: Build, orchestrate, and optimize production ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Data Factory and Microsoft Fabric to support our complete cloud migration by September.

  • Database & Infrastructure Management: Develop and maintain schemas, performance, and procedures across Azure SQL Managed Instances.

  • Legacy System Support: Maintain and support existing SSIS integration packages and SSAS tabular/multidimensional models hosted on Azure VMs during the transition.

  • Analytics & Semantic Modeling: Build scalable, high‑performance semantic models, DAX measures, and reports in Power BI for cross‑functional stakeholders.

  • SDLC & Delivery Management: Adhere to structured Agile/Scrum methodologies, producing thorough technical documentation, tracking pipeline deployment, and securing formal business sign‑offs.

  • Process Automation: Develop targeted Excel VBA/macro automation tools to streamline manual assessment workflows for internal resolution specialists.

Technical Requirements

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in Data Engineering, Business Intelligence, or Cloud Architecture.

  • Deep hands‑on experience with Microsoft Azure, specifically Azure Data Factory (ADF), Microsoft Fabric, and Azure SQL Managed Instance.

  • Proven track record working with legacy Microsoft SQL Server stacks, including SSIS and SSAS (tabular/multidimensional models).

  • Advanced Power BI expertise, including enterprise semantic layer design, DAX, and report optimization.

  • Proven ability to operate within an Agile/SDLC environment, including writing technical design docs, standard operating procedures, and managing deployment sign‑offs.

  • Strong experience in end‑to‑end cloud migrations and infrastructure transition projects.

Desirable / Advantageous Skills

  • Advanced Excel & VBA: Strong capability in writing complex VBA scripts and macros to automate operational assessment spreadsheets for resolution specialists.

Candidate Profile

  • Full‑Stack Analytics: Able to build the pipeline, model the data layer, and deliver the final Power BI dashboard independently.

  • Process‑Driven: Committed to code quality, documentation, testing, and formal sign‑off processes.
