About the role

As a Data Engineer within the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA) team, you will play a vital role in the development of the Enterprise Data Hub, a key infrastructure initiative for the Singapore Government. What you'll do

  • Design and develop comprehensive data models, integration frameworks, and efficient storage solutions to support data operations.
  • Construct and oversee ETL/ELT pipelines utilizing data streaming technologies, message queuing systems, and Change Data Capture (CDC) methodologies.
  • Implement advanced Lakehouse architecture and utilize Delta Lake storage patterns to enhance data accessibility and performance.
  • Employ DataOps methodologies to ensure automated deployments, effective system monitoring, and comprehensive data observability.
  • Lead architectural reviews, translating complex technical requirements into manageable tasks for the team.
  • Provide mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a collaborative environment and facilitating coordination across different teams.
  • Ensure all data systems comply with stringent data privacy, security, and quality standards, safeguarding sensitive information.
  • Manage and maintain detailed technical documentation and system specifications to support ongoing development and operational needs.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Technology, or a closely related field.
  • Between 5 to 8 years of professional experience in data engineering and architecture, preferably within the context of the Singapore Government.
  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years of hands‑on experience with AWS infrastructure, specifically with services such as Glue and CloudWatch.
  • At least 3 to 5 years of expertise in data modeling and storage solutions, including Data Warehouses, Data Lakes, and Data Virtualization techniques.
  • 2 to 4 years of practical experience with Databricks, focusing on Lakehouse architecture, both streaming and batch data pipelines, as well as SQL analytics.
  • 2 to 4 years of experience working with REST APIs and web request protocols to facilitate data integration.
  • Proven track record in implementing DataOps practices and advanced integration techniques to streamline data workflows.
  • Strong leadership qualities, with experience mentoring junior engineers and guiding them in their professional development.

Nice to have

  • Certification as a Databricks Certified Data Engineer Associate or Professional, showcasing your expertise in the platform.
  • Familiarity with Databricks governance tools, including Unity Catalog, lineage tracking, and access control mechanisms to ensure data integrity and compliance.
