Job Overview
A reputed organization is looking for an experienced Data Engineer to join its team in Dubai, UAE. The role focuses on building and operating production-grade data pipelines that move data from source systems into Lakehouse environments and support analytics and artificial intelligence workloads.
The successful candidate will work with modern Microsoft and Azure data technologies, including Azure Data Factory, Microsoft Fabric, Databricks and Synapse. Strong expertise in SQL, Python, PySpark/Spark, Lakehouse architecture and data modelling will be essential for developing reliable and scalable data solutions.
Experience within UAE government or regulated-sector environments is preferred. Candidates with knowledge of UAE data protection and compliance requirements will be well suited to this opportunity.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and operate production-grade data pipelines.
- Develop data ingestion and transformation processes from source systems into Lakehouse environments.
- Support analytics and AI workloads through reliable data infrastructure.
- Develop solutions using Azure Data Factory, Microsoft Fabric, Databricks and/or Synapse.
- Work with Lakehouse and Medallion architecture.
- Implement Delta and Parquet-based data solutions.
- Develop dimensional data models, including SCDs and surrogate keys.
- Write advanced SQL, Python and PySpark/Spark code.
- Implement source control and CI/CD practices.
- Work with Azure DevOps or GitHub.
- Support DataOps processes and development workflows.
- Maintain data metadata, lineage and governance practices.
- Work with Microsoft Purview and data quality tooling.
- Ensure data solutions align with relevant compliance requirements.
- Prepare technical documentation and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
Requirements & Qualifications
- 4+ years of professional Data Engineering experience.
- Experience in UAE government or regulated-sector environments is preferred.
- Advanced SQL skills.
- Strong Python and PySpark/Spark skills.
- Hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory, Microsoft Fabric, Databricks or Synapse.
- Strong understanding of Lakehouse and Medallion architecture.
- Experience with Delta and Parquet.
- Knowledge of dimensional modelling, SCDs and surrogate keys.
- Experience with Azure DevOps or GitHub.
- Understanding of CI/CD, source control and DataOps practices.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Purview, metadata and data lineage.
- Knowledge of data quality tools.
- Awareness of UAE PDPL, Dubai Data Law and DESC ISR.
- Excellent English communication and documentation skills.
- Arabic proficiency is an advantage.
