Overview

FinXL IT Professional Services is a leading IT consultancy that partners with clients to bridge the gap between business needs and technology capabilities. Since 2003, we've been delivering high-value ICT services across financial services, telecommunications, government, and enterprise sectors.

We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join our client's Cloud & Infrastructure transformation initiative in Melbourne. In this role, you will drive the migration, modernisation, and restructuring of data assets, with a primary focus on rewiring legacy reporting, rebuilding Power BI dashboards, and updating Power Automate workflows to align with a modern enterprise Azure Cloud environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect, build, and optimise scalable data pipelines to transition workloads and data models from legacy systems into Azure Cloud infrastructure.
  • Re-engineer, optimise, and rebuild existing Power BI reports, data models, and Power Automate workflows to ensure seamless integration with modern cloud architecture.
  • Design and maintain performant data warehouse structures and analytics-ready datasets in Azure (Azure Synapse, Databricks, and Azure SQL Database).
  • Ensure all data integration processes adhere to strict enterprise data governance, privacy, and security controls across merged environments.
  • Partner closely with Cloud and DevOps engineers to align data pipeline deployments with broader Azure landing zone patterns and continuous delivery practices.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Expert-level proficiency in Power BI (DAX, Power Query, Data Modelling) and Power Automate.
  • Hands-on experience across relevant Azure data services, including Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL/Synapse, and Databricks.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and scripting languages (Python or Scala).
  • Proven background in legacy data migration, schema redesign, and ETL flow optimisation.
  • Familiarity with software engineering best practices, source control (Git), and CI/CD for data deployments.

This role is open to Melbourne candidates only.

If this opportunity sounds like a challenge you have been looking for, please apply online today. Please note, only shortlisted individuals will be contacted. (M10)
