Data Engineer

Summary

Data Engineer building scalable data pipelines with Python, SQL, and Databricks on AWS (migrating to Google Secure Cloud) for UK Defence programmes within secure government environments.

MERITUS are recruiting for two Data Engineers to join a leading Technology Consultancy, supporting secure data engineering across major UK Defence programmes.

We’re looking for two Data Engineers to on Initial 6 month contracts to join a Defence Consultancy based in Malvern.

The roles will suit engineers with strong Python, SQL and Databricks experience, working across modern cloud-based data environments. The platform is currently expected to be AWS, with a planned migration to Google Secure Cloud.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain scalable data pipelines and engineering solutions.
  • Work with Python, SQL and Databricks across complex datasets.
  • Support data integration, transformation and processing.
  • Contribute to technical design and data engineering best practice.
  • Collaborate with engineers, architects and wider technical stakeholders.
  • Work within secure Defence and Government environments.

Skills & Experience:

  • Experience as a Data Engineer, Data Developer or similar.
  • Strong Python and SQL skills.
  • Experience with data pipelines, ETL/ELT or data processing.
  • Understanding of cloud data engineering.
  • Active SC or DV Clearance

Desirable: AWS, Google Cloud, Defence/Central Government, large-scale data or regulated environments.
