We are seeking smart, diligent, methodical data engineers with 2-4 years of hands-on experience who are passionate, dedicated, and ready to deliver our data and AI offerings to clients.
What you’ll do…
- Be a key member of our Technology Consulting team, helping clients design and develop modern data and AI analytics solutions.
- Analyse business and functional requirements, then design, build, and maintain reliable batch and real-time data pipelines and ingestion code.
- Acquire and integrate data from a wide range of modern sources (cloud apps, mobile, social, web and event logs, streaming feeds) alongside traditional sources like CRM and marketing automation, to power customer insight and analytics.
- Build cloud-native ELT/ETL pipelines and Lakehouse solutions in collaboration with onshore and offshore teams, and deploy them to high-availability, shared-service production cloud environments.
- Apply data quality, testing, and observability practices so pipelines are trustworthy, well-documented, and monitored.
- Help prepare and serve clean, well-modelled data that powers analytics, dashboards, and AI/ML and GenAI use cases (for example, feature sets and retrieval for LLM-based applications).
- Work the DataOps way — version control (Git), CI/CD, and code reviews while adhering to architectural standards, best practices, and the software development life cycle.
- Contribute to and help improve technical guidelines and best practices for the data engineering team.
Requirements
You’ll do it using…
- Strong SQL skills, including writing complex queries and optimizing them for performance — SQL is the foundation of the role.
- Strong programming ability in Python for data engineering, with production code you’ve shipped.
- Hands-on experience across data engineering, pipeline design (ETL vs ELT), data ingestion, and data modelling, delivered on real projects.
- Hands-on experience with cloud fundamentals (storage, compute, networking) on at least one major platform — AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Working experience with the modern data stack, including cloud warehouses and lakehouse platforms such as Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, and Databricks, as well as tools like dbt, Airflow, and Fivetran.
- Understanding of the differences, use cases, and technologies behind data warehouses, data lakes, and lakehouses including open table formats like Delta Lake or Apache Iceberg.
- Working experience with version control (Git) and CI/CD pipelines.
- A clear understanding of how data engineering supports AI, ML, and GenAI use cases by preparing data for models, feature stores, and vector databases used in RAG and LLM applications.
- Mandatory ability to use AI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot, Codex, Claude Code, Gemini CLI, or similar tools as productivity accelerators, while applying strong programming fundamentals and sound engineering judgment.
- Working knowledge of visualization tools like Power BI or Tableau.
- The ability to work on fast-paced projects and deliver independently in a client-facing consulting role.
- Strong analytical skills, good communication, and a proactive, initiative-taking attitude.
How you’ll show up...
- Embody the values of NowVertical.
- Think like an owner and bring a founder’s mindset to your work.
- Communicate with honesty, candour, and respect.
- Be resourceful and creative.
- Act with empathy.
- Collaborate across functions to translate business needs into practical data solutions, acting as an embedded partner rather than a back-office ETL developer.
Benefits
You’ll love it because…
- You will have the opportunity to work in a successful, fast-moving, mission-driven company.
- You will have autonomy and growth opportunities.
- You will collaborate with other brilliant minds.
- You will always be surrounded by new challenges from clients, consultants, and technology.
