Data Engineer (Power BI/Python)
Summary
A junior data engineer role based in Malaysia, supporting a global professional services client's Hong Kong market. Day to day the person runs and maintains Python scripts for data processing, builds Power BI dashboards, and automates workflows with Power Automate. Cantonese listening comprehension is required; the role is fully onsite for the first year.
We are currently hiring a Data Engineer to join a global professional services organization, supporting data management, reporting and process automation activities for the Hong Kong market.
This role focuses on executing and maintaining Python-based processes, developing interactive dashboards using Power BI, and supporting workflow automation initiatives. The successful candidate will work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure data accuracy, operational efficiency and continuous process improvement.

Key Responsibilities
- Execute, monitor and maintain Python scripts to support daily data processing and operational activities.
- Support the development, maintenance and troubleshooting of Python-based automation processes.
- Design, develop and maintain interactive dashboards and reports using Microsoft Power BI.
- Perform data extraction, transformation, validation and reporting to support business requirements.
- Develop and maintain automated workflows using Microsoft Power Automate where applicable.
- Support data ingestion and ETL activities to ensure accurate and timely data processing.
- Identify and troubleshoot data-related issues, ensuring data quality and consistency.
- Collaborate with internal teams and Hong Kong stakeholders to understand reporting and automation requirements.
- Identify opportunities to streamline manual processes and improve operational efficiency through automation.
- Maintain documentation for data processes, reports and automated workflows.
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Analytics, Business Analytics, Statistics or a related discipline.
Junior-level experience in data analytics, reporting, business intelligence, process automation or a related field.
Hands-on knowledge of Python, including the ability to run, execute, maintain and troubleshoot basic scripts.
Proficiency in Microsoft Power BI, with experience developing dashboards and reports.
Familiarity with Microsoft Power Automate and workflow creation is an added advantage.
Basic understanding of data processing, data transformation and data quality principles.
Good analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
Cantonese: Ability to listen to and understand spoken Cantonese.
Comfortable working independently and collaborating with stakeholders across different functions.
Additional Information
Based at Sunway GEO, Petaling Jaya.
Fully onsite arrangement for the first year, with potential consideration for hybrid working thereafter.
Supports the Hong Kong market and follows Hong Kong working days and public holidays.
Candidates who can join by November 2026 are highly preferred.
