Duties:


  • Design, develop and maintain scalable data pipelines processing large volumes of data.
  • Build and optimise data warehouses, data models and ETL processes.
  • Ensure data quality through validation, monitoring and governance best practices.
  • Develop reusable data products that support multiple business functions.
  • Collaborate with data scientists, analysts and engineering teams to deliver efficient data solutions.
  • Improve the performance, reliability and scalability of existing data platforms.
  • Contribute to infrastructure automation, deployment pipelines and monitoring.
  • Evaluate and implement modern data technologies and engineering best practices.

Job Experience & Skills Required:

Qualifications:


  • Matric (Grade 12)
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.

Experience:

  • 3+ years' experience in Data Engineering or a similar role.
  • Strong SQL skills and proficiency in Python, C# or another programming language.
  • Solid experience with data modelling, ETL development and data warehousing.
  • Experience working with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS or GCP.
  • Understanding of modern data architecture and data management principles.
  • Exposure to technologies such as Databricks, Synapse, Delta Lake and Apache Airflow.
  • Technologies - On-Premise: SQL Server, SSRS, SSAS and Power BI
  • Cloud: Apache Airflow, Databricks, Azure Data Lake Storage and Cosmos DB



Skills & Competencies:


  • SQL, ETL/ELT Development & Data Warehousing
  • Python, C# or similar programming languages
  • Cloud Data Engineering (Azure, AWS or GCP)
  • Databricks, Apache Airflow & Modern Data Platforms
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent stakeholder communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to design scalable, high-performance data solutions
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
