Duties:
- Design, develop and maintain scalable data pipelines processing large volumes of data.
- Build and optimise data warehouses, data models and ETL processes.
- Ensure data quality through validation, monitoring and governance best practices.
- Develop reusable data products that support multiple business functions.
- Collaborate with data scientists, analysts and engineering teams to deliver efficient data solutions.
- Improve the performance, reliability and scalability of existing data platforms.
- Contribute to infrastructure automation, deployment pipelines and monitoring.
- Evaluate and implement modern data technologies and engineering best practices.
Job Experience & Skills Required: Qualifications:
- Matric (Grade 12)
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
Experience:
- 3+ years' experience in Data Engineering or a similar role.
- Strong SQL skills and proficiency in Python, C# or another programming language.
- Solid experience with data modelling, ETL development and data warehousing.
- Experience working with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS or GCP.
- Understanding of modern data architecture and data management principles.
- Exposure to technologies such as Databricks, Synapse, Delta Lake and Apache Airflow.
- Technologies - On-Premise: SQL Server, SSRS, SSAS and Power BI
- Cloud: Apache Airflow, Databricks, Azure Data Lake Storage and Cosmos DB
Skills & Competencies:
- SQL, ETL/ELT Development & Data Warehousing
- Python, C# or similar programming languages
- Cloud Data Engineering (Azure, AWS or GCP)
- Databricks, Apache Airflow & Modern Data Platforms
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent stakeholder communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to design scalable, high-performance data solutions
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
