Data Processing Intern
Summary
Intern supports data ingestion, cleansing, and validation for a fintech platform serving institutional investors, using SQL and basic scripting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support ingestion and basic cleansing of structured data sets from internal and external sources.
- Assist with data entry, validation checks, and quality reviews under analyst supervision.
- Help document data flows, processing steps, and system configurations.
- Run predefined queries and scripts to extract data as instructed.
- Participate in requirements-gathering sessions and take meeting notes.
- Flag anomalies or inconsistencies in data to senior team members.
Requirements
- Pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Informatics, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Foundational understanding of relational databases (e.g., what a table, row, column, and primary key are).
- Basic familiarity with SQL — ability to write simple SELECT statements.
- Exposure to at least one software environment (e.g., Excel, Python basics, or any scripting tool).
- Ability to create and use agents/ skills on Claude, Gemini, CoPilot etc.
- Ability to follow written technical specifications and process documentation.
- Willingness to learn and ask questions in a structured work environment and “can do” attitude.
- Introductory knowledge of data quality or data governance concepts.
- Familiarity with version control basics (e.g., Git).
- Prior coursework or project work involving data pipelines or ETL concepts.
