We're looking for a Data Scientist to join our Resins & Technology Data Science R&D team located in Uppsala, Sweden. This role is a 1 year temporary position.

As a Data Scientist, you will support product development from idea generation to production transfer. In this role you will help to discover, design, and implement scientific workflows and data-driven use cases across R&D, including development of data pipelines, advanced analytics, and AI/ML solutions. This role sits at the intersection of science, data engineering, and data science, working closely with researchers, domain experts, and platform teams to turn experimental data into reliable, reusable, and scalable assets.

You will play a key role throughout the full lifecycle of scientific use cases, from early discovery and feasibility assessment, through design and proof-of-concept, to production-grade implementation and adoption. Perform data analysis, troubleshoot development projects, and develop, implement, and tune predictive models.

What You'll Do :

  • Support experimental design (DoE) and planning
  • Drive and foster a data-driven culture within R&D
  • Work with R&D SMEs to understand scientific workflows and identify opportunities for automation, optimization, and AI/ML
  • Design and document maintainable solutions and data flows in collaboration with stakeholders and IT architects
  • Develop applications, tools, and interfaces that help researchers access, visualize, and analyze data efficiently
  • Support production deployment, monitoring, and operation with IT, DevOps, and platform teams
  • Document and present results clearly, both orally and in writing
  • Identify and implement relevant new techniques while following technical developments in the field

Who you are:

  • Master's degree in a technical discipline with expert competency in data science/data engineering/bioinformatics or equal experience
  • Proficient in Python, comfortable with R
  • Proficient in explorative data analysis, cleaning, and transformation
  • Experience with modern AI/ML techniques
  • Experience in the SQL language and databases
  • Experience with solutions for data management
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS and Azure) and their data services
  • Knowledge of version control/Git
  • Well versed in multivariate statistics and predictive modelling .

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Experience with image analysis and/or computer vision
  • Experience with protein/DNA sequence alignment methodologies
  • Experience in Design of Experiments (DoE)
  • Experience with Web development
  • Experience with DevOps and CI/CD
  • Practical wet lab experience and experience with analytical chemistry

This is an onsite role and we therefore see that you who apply are resident in Uppsala or a nearby area with the flexibility to commute from our site on a daily basis
