Data Solution Architect - Snowflake on AWS
Summary
The Data Solution Architect leads a modernization program migrating on-prem data to Snowflake on AWS, designing target architecture, ingestion frameworks, and governance standards. They work with stakeholders to deliver scalable, secure data solutions in a complex enterprise environment.
The Opportunity
As the Data Solution Architect, you will translate high-level data architecture and business requirements into end-to-end solution designs. You will work closely with stakeholders across architecture, engineering, security, governance, and business teams to architect and guide the migration of enterprise data workloads into a modern Snowflake and AWS ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess current-state data environments, source systems, interfaces, and dependencies.
- Define target-state data architecture across Snowflake and AWS.
- Design data ingestion, transformation, storage, modelling, and consumption frameworks.
- Develop architecture patterns for batch, incremental, and near real-time data processing.
- Provide technical leadership across Snowflake architecture, including databases, schemas, warehouses, Snowpipe, Streams, and Tasks.
- Guide migration and modernisation initiatives from on-premises platforms to cloud-based solutions.
- Establish data governance, quality, lineage, metadata, and security standards.
- Define architecture principles covering scalability, resilience, performance, observability, and cost optimisation.
- Produce architecture artefacts including solution designs, data flow diagrams, standards, and architecture decision records.
- Provide architecture governance and design assurance throughout delivery and transition to support teams.
- Proven experience as a Data Architect or Data Solution Architect in enterprise environments.
- Strong hands-on architecture expertise with Snowflake.
- Deep understanding of AWS data services, data warehousing, lakehouse architectures, ETL/ELT, and enterprise data modelling.
- Experience delivering cloud migration and data modernisation initiatives.
- Strong knowledge of data governance, metadata, lineage, security, and compliance frameworks.
- Experience designing highly scalable, secure, and production-ready data platforms.
- Knowledge of DataOps, CI/CD, monitoring, and automated deployment practices.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills with the ability to work across business and technical teams.
- Experience within banking, financial services, or other regulated industries.
- Snowflake certifications.
- AWS certifications.
- TOGAF or enterprise architecture framework experience.
- Exposure to Power BI and enterprise analytics solutions.
