Database Administration (DB2 & Couchbase)
DB2 Database Administration
· Administer and support large-scale DB2 UDB (LUW) databases in production and non-production environments (multi-TB databases).
· Perform installation, upgrades, fix packs, and patching for DB2 instances.
· Manage instances, databases, schemas, table spaces (SMS/DMS), buffer pools, and database objects.
· Implement and manage backup and recovery strategies (hot, cold, full, incremental) using disk and TSM.
· Execute database recovery activities including point-in-time and roll-forward recovery.
· Support DB2 HADR and HACMP environments and participate in failover and DR testing.
Performance, Monitoring & Troubleshooting
· Monitor and tune database performance using RUNSTATS, REORG, REORGCHK, and configuration tuning.
· Analyze and optimize long-running SQL queries and application performance issues.
· Proactively identify capacity, performance, and stability risks.
· Troubleshoot production issues using tools such as db2diag, db2pd, db2top, and db2support.
· Handle deadlocks, forced application disconnects, and root-cause analysis.
Couchbase Administration
· Install, configure, and administer Couchbase clusters in production and non-production environments.
· Manage Couchbase features including XDCR, bucket configuration, replication, rebalance, and failover.
· Support large Couchbase deployments handling TB-scale data volumes.
· Implement user management and RBAC for database security.
· Monitor Couchbase environments using tools such as Couchbase Web Console, Icinga, Grafana, and Prometheus.
· Work with REST APIs for Couchbase administration and automation.
Operations & Collaboration
· Provide production support in SLA-driven, ITSM-based environments (ServiceNow, Remedy).
· Execute BAU activities, planned changes, and maintenance tasks following change management processes.
· Develop and maintain shell scripts for automation, scheduling, and housekeeping tasks.
· Collaborate with application teams, vendors, and infrastructure teams to resolve database issues.
· Contribute to documentation, best practices, and continuous improvement initiatives.
· Mentor junior team members and share technical knowledge within the team.
