Database administrator

We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator (Level 3) to join our team on a 12-month contract. This is an exciting opportunity for a technical specialist who thrives in enterprise-scale environments and is passionate about database performance, high availability, automation, and continuous improvement.

As a key member of our technology team, you will be responsible for managing and optimizing critical database platforms, ensuring maximum uptime, reliability, security, and performance across our enterprise environment.

Key Responsibilities Design, implement, and support High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions, including clustering, Availability Groups, and replication technologies Develop and maintain complex data movement and replication architectures Monitor and optimise database performance across large-scale environments Perform advanced query tuning, performance analysis, and troubleshooting Conduct root cause analysis and implement preventative measures for production incidents Drive automation initiatives using Power Shell, Python, Bash, or similar scripting tools Support cloud migration, modernisation, and infrastructure optimisation initiatives Implement and maintain database security, auditing, encryption, and governance controls Develop and maintain technical documentation, standards, and operational runbooks Mentor and support junior Database Administrators Participate in critical incident response and after-hours support when required Requirements Minimum 6 years' experience in Database Administration within enterprise environment Relevant Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related fiel Strong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server or other enterprise relational database platform Extensive experience wit High Availability & Disaster Recovery Database Replication Technologies Performance Tuning & Optimization Query Analysis and Execution Pla Automation & Script Exposure to cloud-based environments and infrastructure modernization project Strong understanding of security, compliance, and data governance principle Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills Advantageous Experience
