Day Services Supervisor

Purpose: The Day Services Supervisor will align his/her scope of work with Jawonio’s Mission while incorporating Jawonio’s Core Values as the guiding principle for all work activities.

Summary: We are seeking a dynamic and community focused WOW (Without Walls) Day Habilitation Supervisor to lead and support a highly engaging, person centered program for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Unlike traditional site based programs, our WOW program operates primarily in the community, providing meaningful opportunities for individuals to build independence, develop life skills, volunteer, explore personal interests, and actively participate in their communities.

The WOW Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the planning, implementation, scheduling, and quality of community based day habilitation services. This position provides leadership and supervision to Direct Support Professionals (DSPs), ensures compliance with OPWDD regulations, develops innovative community opportunities, and actively participates in supporting individuals during community activities and outings.

The ideal candidate is a strong leader who is passionate about community inclusion, person centered planning, self advocacy, and helping individuals achieve meaningful outcomes in real world settings.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Community Based Program Leadership
  • Develop, implement, and oversee creative community based schedules and activities aligned with individuals' goals, interests, and habilitation outcomes.
  • Expand opportunities for community inclusion, volunteer experiences, recreation, education, employment exploration, and skill development.
  • Ensure individuals are actively engaged in meaningful community experiences rather than facility based programming.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, recreational venues, volunteer sites, and local businesses to create opportunities for participation.
  • Staff Supervision and Development
  • Supervise, coach, train, and evaluate DSPs and other program staff.
  • Provide ongoing guidance regarding person centered practices, community integration, behavioral supports, and OPWDD requirements.
  • Conduct staff orientation, training, performance evaluations, and corrective action plans when necessary.
  • Promote a positive culture focused on inclusion, dignity, and high quality supports.
  • Program Oversight and Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with OPWDD regulations, HCBS Waiver requirements, agency policies, and billing standards.
  • Review and approve Staff Action Plans, documentation, assessments, progress notes, and data collection.
  • Monitor quality indicators, program outcomes, attendance, and service delivery requirements.
  • Lead incident follow up, regulatory compliance efforts, and corrective action initiatives as needed.
  • Direct Support and Participant Engagement
  • Participate alongside individuals and staff during community activities, volunteer opportunities, travel training, and other program experiences.
  • Support individuals in achieving personal goals related to independence, self advocacy, communication, socialization, and community participation.
  • Act as a liaison between families, residential providers, care managers, and other stakeholders.
  • Transportation Coordination
  • Coordinate transportation needs and scheduling for community based activities.
  • Ensure staff are assigned appropriately to transportation routes and community supports.
  • Maintain transportation related documentation and safety requirements.
  • Ensure the program area is clean and safe. Ensure various supplies, equipment (medical/program supplies), and other materials are in good supply, are stored correctly, and are in good repair.
  • May be required to work remotely and use technology or alternative means of instruction to provide remote services.
  • May be required to prepare and implement lesson plans/activities and adjust instruction to accommodate the difference in the individual's needs via virtual sessions.
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Nonessential Elements:

  • With Director, participate in meetings regarding program issues and/or projects of the agency.
  • Perform a variety of clerical and administrative functions. Provide new individual orientation and conduct tours of the program.
  • Perform ADL/personal care activities for individuals, as well as behavioral interventions, as needed.
  • Provide transportation services by driving the agency van as needed.
  • Additional responsibilities as directed.
