Demand Planning Manager

Job Summary

The Demand Planning Manager analyzes demand signals for products to effectively drive the Supply Chain and provide an accurate demand plan to guide the wholesale (shipment) sales plan and retail sales plan. The Manager plays a role in the Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) process by collaborating with the Supply Planning, Sales, Marketing, and Finance teams to ensure alignment between the forecast and financial plans.

Key Responsibilities

Forecasting & Analytics

  • Own the monthly SKU/retailer forecasting process, applying statistical forecasting models (e.g., exponential smoothing, causal/regression-based methods) alongside market and retailer-specific inputs
  • Lead new product forecasting, including initial sell-in projections, launch phasing, post-launch tracking, and category contribution analysis
  • Assess new launch impact on existing products for cannibalization risk or complementary growth
  • Own forecast accuracy and bias metrics (e.g., WAPE/MAPE) against defined targets; drive root-cause analysis and continuous improvement
  • Assess actual sell-through vs. plan, identify variance drivers, and translate findings into forward forecast revisions

Cross-Functional Engagement

  • Participate in S&OP and business review forums, presenting demand insights, scenario analyses, and tactical recommendations to senior stakeholders
  • Develop close working relationships with key retailers, providing inventory feedback and collaborating on joint forecasting where applicable

Process & Systems

  • Own end-to-end product lifecycle planning, including phase-in/phase-out timing and inventory risk mitigation at end-of-life
  • Provide input to Supply Planning on inventory strategy discussions
  • Leverage AI/ML-driven forecasting and analytics tools to improve forecast accuracy, automate routine analysis, and surface demand insights faster, while applying business judgment to validate, adjust, or override AI-generated forecasts to ensure they reflect market reality

Qualifications

  • 6-8 years of experience within Demand Planning, Sales Planning, or Supply Chain preferred
  • Strong Excel skills required; Vanguard experience a plus
  • Proven track record owning forecast accuracy metrics and driving measurable improvement
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and the ability to translate data into clear, actionable insights for senior stakeholders
  • Experience with demand planning/ERP systems (e.g., SAP IBP, Kinaxis, O9, Anaplan) and BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
  • Working knowledge of sales strategy and brand positioning
  • Flexible, adaptive mindset with the ability to operate in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • Cosmetics or Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) industry experience strongly preferred
