Who We Are

Spectrum Aquatics has manufactured swimming-pool equipment in Montana for more than 45 years. We help build communities through play and recreation - in the most fun environment: water. Our team values quality, practical improvement, collaboration, and people who take pride in work that is both accurate and useful.

Why This Role May Be a Great Fit

  • You may thrive in this position if you naturally:
  • Notice small details others may miss and prefer to get the design right before it reaches production.
  • Enjoy focused, technical work with clear standards, measurable requirements, and defined deadlines.
  • Use logic, calculations, and research to make sound design decisions.
  • Take ownership of assignments, work independently, and follow through without losing sight of team priorities.
  • Ask thoughtful questions, document decisions, and communicate clearly when specifications are incomplete or conflicting.
  • Value consistency and quality while still looking for a better, more efficient way to work.

What You Will Do

  • Use SolidWorks to create concept models and translate approved concepts into accurate, detailed production drawings.
  • Design and draft custom and standard products in accordance with company drafting standards.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, customers, and internal partners to confirm product and structural requirements.
  • Calculate dimensions, material requirements, weight limitations, and equipment needs.
  • Prepare and review sketches with the engineering team before developing final CAD designs.
  • Identify potential manufacturing or operational issues and revise designs to improve function, quality, and manufacturability.
  • Ensure final designs comply with applicable regulations, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Create and maintain build books, product manuals, diagrams, layouts, and step-by-step production documentation.
  • Generate and review bills of material for accuracy and completeness.
  • Review peer drawings and designs for completeness, consistency, and accuracy.
  • Support sales with product specifications and custom-order questions, and assist engineering with new-product development and product improvements.

What You Bring

  • Hands-on proficiency with SolidWorks or comparable computer-aided design software.
  • Working knowledge of building, manufacturing, or production processes.
  • Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, measurements, and technical requirements.
  • Strong spatial reasoning, mathematical accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to organize multiple assignments and meet deadlines without compromising quality.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills and the judgment to clarify requirements before proceeding.
  • A collaborative, professional approach when working with engineering, production, sales, customers, and outside partners.

What Success Looks Like

  • Drawings, models, bills of material, and build documentation are complete, accurate, and production-ready.
  • Design risks or missing requirements are identified early and resolved before release.
  • Internal partners receive timely, reliable technical support and clear documentation.
  • Standards are followed consistently, and process-improvement ideas are practical and well considered.
