As an Automotive Plastic Design Engineer, you will be responsible for creating and developing high-quality 3D models and detailed engineering drawings for automotive plastic components. You will work on both interior and exterior applications, translating design requirements into manufacturable and production-ready components.
The role requires a strong understanding of automotive plastic design principles, surface and solid modelling, drafting, packaging requirements, and design feasibility. You will collaborate with engineering and cross-functional teams to ensure designs meet functional, aesthetic, quality, and manufacturing requirements.

Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop automotive plastic components using CATIA V5 / 3DEXPERIENCE.
- Create accurate 3D solid and surface models based on design and engineering requirements.
- Prepare detailed 2D engineering drawings and manufacturing documentation.
- Work on automotive interior and exterior plastic components throughout the design and development lifecycle.
- Develop components such as instrument panels, consoles, door trims, pillar trims, bumpers, grilles, and other interior/exterior trims.
- Apply automotive design standards and best practices to ensure components are functional, manufacturable, and production-ready.
- Review designs for packaging, fitment, clearances, interfaces, and assembly requirements.
- Coordinate with engineering, manufacturing, tooling, and other cross-functional teams to resolve design issues.
- Incorporate design changes and engineering feedback while maintaining accuracy and design intent.
- Support design reviews, validation activities, and issue resolution during product development.
- Ensure models and drawings meet required quality, dimensional, and documentation standards.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of design processes and engineering practices.
What Makes You a Great Fit
- 3+ years of professional experience in automotive plastic component design.
- Mandatory hands-on proficiency in CATIA V5 and/or 3DEXPERIENCE.
- Strong experience in 3D solid and surface modelling.
- Good knowledge of engineering drafting and preparation of detailed 2D drawings.
- Practical experience designing automotive plastic components for interior and/or exterior applications.
- Experience with components such as IP, consoles, door trims, pillar trims, front and rear bumpers, grilles, and trims.
- Strong understanding of automotive plastic design, packaging, interfaces, fitment, and manufacturability.
- Ability to interpret engineering requirements and convert them into accurate 3D models and production-ready designs.
- Good problem-solving and analytical skills with strong attention to dimensional and design details.
