Designer III Piping

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ability to lead larger teams of designers and coordinate all required day to day workflow.
  • Complete advanced/complex Piping Design and Equipment Layouts in accordance with Industry Practices using 2D CAD &

3D E3D Software and/or other 3D Design software.

  • Ability to review new proposals/RFQs and complete estimates for small caps work.
  • More advanced ability to mark up and coordinate vendor document review for major and minor equipment and coordinate

logistics on the vendor document review process.

  • Advanced understanding on standard instrument design and installation requirements and differences in technology with

ability to navigate those design and installation challenges without supervision.

  • Advanced field constructability and knowledge of fabrications means/methods to be a qualified checker for small to

medium complexity jobs.

  • Ability to create detailed project schedules and review schedules for coordination with respect to Piping workflow

expectations and durations as well as required interactions with other disciplines and parties.

  • Facilitate model reviews, including ability to collect and manage comments.
  • Ability to track project hours, progress reporting to conduct earned value analysis, accurately forecast project completion dates.
  • Ability to understand and identify scope of work from initial exposure, create project change notices from deviations of scope of work.
  • Ability to manage global and domestic workshare.
  • Familiar with laser scanning and working with laser scans in 3D models.

REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or Associates Degrees with drafting courses; Bachelor’s Degree preferred with design experience.
  • 20+ years of experience and knowledge in the design requirements for respective discipline as they apply to petrochemical,

refining, pharmaceutical, confectionary/food processing or power plant construction projects.

  • Consult others as a qualified expert and capable of making key technical decisions on a low to medium complexity project.
  • Advanced ability to clearly communicate information and ideas verbally and in writing.
  • Advanced knowledge on FEL/FEED project execution staged gate process including understanding differences on execution

between early FEL/FEED and detailed design. This includes a detailed understanding of precursor/successors with respect

to activities, deliverables, and project milestones as well as expected progress/detail for key deliverables at each phase.

  • Advanced understanding of the overall Project Execution and Multi-Discipline project workflow and execution especially as

it pertains to interdisciplinary workflow and coordination expectations.

  • More advanced ability and understanding of recognizing project change and basic understanding of change management.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate or bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Certificate in Design/Drafting preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Employee will be required to communicate in person, via telephone, email, use of arm/hand steadiness, manual dexterity, finger dexterity, multi limb coordination, oral expression, and comprehension. May be required to lift, carry and move objects safely.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work will be in a general office environment operating and functioning in a fast-paced work environment. Occasionally required to work in an industrial location where noise levels will be moderate to high. Job sites may contain the following: light to heavy equipment vehicles, small to large equipment, materials, communication equipment and tools, people standing, walking, sitting, signaling, and talking. Noise levels vary and may include bells, whistles, and alarms.
