About Menlo
Menlo Research is an Applied R&D lab building Asimov, an open-source humanoid robot platform, and the full software stack that powers it. Our mission is to make humanoid labor economically viable, turning software into physical labor at scale. We build across the full stack: hardware architecture, locomotion, autonomy, simulation, and infrastructure. We move fast, ship to real robots, and open-source everything we can. If you want your work to matter beyond a paper or a demo, this is the place.

The Role
We are hiring a Designer to own how Menlo looks and feels across our website, our communications, and everything in between. Menlo builds in public, and the brand is a big part of why people love Asimov. Every launch, research post, careers page, and community moment is a chance to show the world what we are building. We want one designer who can own that whole surface, from the marketing site to the social asset that goes out an hour before a demo.
This is a broad, hands-on design role for someone who moves fast and has real range. You will shape the brand system, design the pages, and turn around the comms assets, all while keeping Menlo and Asimov looking sharp and consistent.
If you want to own the look of a company people are already watching, this is it.

What You'll Do

  • Own the visual design of and its surfaces, from marketing and launch pages to the careers page and shop touchpoints, working with engineering to ship them to production

  • Design communications assets across every launch, including social posts, announcement art, research post graphics, video thumbnails, and event and IRL collateral

  • Build and maintain the Menlo brand system, including typography, color, and reusable components and templates, so the whole team can move fast and stay on brand

  • Keep Menlo and Asimov visually consistent across the website, docs, community channels, and partner materials

  • Design decks, one-pagers, and collateral for sales, partnerships, and hiring

  • Design for the build in public motion across Discord, the forum, streams, and community moments

  • Turn rough ideas into finished work quickly, often on launch-day timelines

What We Look For

  • A strong portfolio that spans brand, web, and communications design, not just one of the three

  • Real range, from setting up a brand system to designing a marketing site to shipping fast-turn social assets

  • Comfort owning brand at an early company, where you set the bar rather than inherit it

  • Fluency in Figma and a sharp eye for layout, type, and detail

  • Web design sensibility, including responsive thinking and a smooth handoff or collaboration with engineers

  • Taste for a technical, developer-facing aesthetic that feels clean and confident, never corporate

  • Self-direction and speed, with a bias for shipping

Nice to Have

  • Front-end skills such as HTML, CSS, Tailwind, or React and Next.js, enough to ship your own designs to production

  • Motion design or video editing for launches and social

  • Illustration or 3D skills, such as Blender, for robots and hardware

  • Photography or art direction for product and team shoots

  • Experience at a hardware, robotics, developer tools, or open source brand

Why Join Menlo
Your work will be the first thing the world sees of Menlo. You will own how the brand shows up across the website, our launches, and the community, with the freedom to set the bar rather than follow a template. The range is real: one day a brand system, the next a launch page, the next the asset that ships minutes before a demo. If you want to shape how a company people already watch looks and feels, this is where it happens.

A Note on AI

You don't need deep AI expertise for every role, but we do expect everyone at Menlo to be intellectually curious, drawn to tinkering and discovery, and excited to use AI as a real collaborator in their work. For some roles, AI fluency is a core requirement. When that's the case, we'll say so explicitly in the qualifications. People who thrive here don't treat AI as a novelty. They use it to think better, and make their work easier for others to build on.

Equal Opportunity and Accommodations

We hire talented people from a wide range of backgrounds. If you're excited about a role but don't meet every bullet, we still encourage you to apply. Menlo Research is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of any legally protected characteristic. Menlo provides reasonable accommodations during the application process. If you need one, please let your recruiter know.
