Job Description

We are seeking a self-motivated candidate with a background in software development to bridge the gap between internal product engineering teams and the global developer ecosystem. In this role, you will champion the needs of application developers, design seamless API/SDK workflows, and build high-quality reference applications and tools that simplify integration.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on developer advocate who thrives at the intersection of application architecture, developer advocacy, and enablement. You will be responsible for authoring comprehensive developer documentation, designing instructional sample code, debugging complex integration issues, and participating in exchanges with engineering teams across international design centers. You must excel at translating complex architectural concepts into practical, easy-to-digest workflows for external and internal audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate upcoming product updates and roadmaps to proactively address and minimize potential disruptions to APIs, SDKs, and developer workflows.

  • Act as a key advocate and product owner for developer enablement tools, APIs, web services, and application workflows within GPO.

  • Architect, write, and maintain robust sample applications and SDKs across cloud-native, on-prem, and on-device environments.

  • Design instructional materials, code samples, and guides that articulate operational theory and demonstrate API & SDK features through practical implementation.

  • Provide guidance, coaching, and debugging support to third-party developers and partner engineers integrating with Motorola Solutions' APIs and hardware/software interfaces.

  • Engage in deep-dive architectural and engineering exchanges with cross-functional teams and design centers across the globe.

  • Collaborate closely with Product Management, Channel Teams, and System Architects to gather developer requirements, influence API / SDK roadmaps, and ensure platform supportability and reliability.

  • Define and streamline developer workflows, automated test environments, and delivery pipelines for API / SDK content.

  • Analyze, reproduce, and resolve complex application integration, protocol-level, and network issue reports submitted by developer partners.

Basic Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering degree from an accredited university.

  • 1–3+ years of professional software engineering development experience, with a focus on API design, application development, or developer advocacy.

  • Proven track record building network communication protocols, mobile APIs, cloud-native APIs, or SaaS architectures.

  • Proficiency in developing and debugging software across Windows, Linux, and macOS platforms utilizing modern IDEs and editors (such as Visual Studio, VS Code, or JetBrains), version control (Git/GitHub).

  • Strong communication and writing skills, with proven experience authoring clear, accurate developer documentation and translating complex architectural concepts for internal and external audiences.

  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and experimental design skills for reproducing and resolving complex issues.

  • Proactive, collaborative mindset with the ability to work independently as well as across globally distributed teams in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience with network topology design, mobile broadband/LMR converged communications, or Public Safety/Enterprise software ecosystems.

  • Practical experience utilizing AI-assisted software development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, or Claude) to accelerate coding, debugging, documentation generation, and problem-solving workflows.

  • Hands-on experience with Azure API Management and working within Agile development methodologies.
