Devops Engineer (cloud Automation)

About the Role

Our client, a rapidly expanding e-commerce platform, is seeking a talented and motivated Dev Ops Engineer to join their team in Durban, Kwa Zulu-Natal. This role is integral to enhancing our CI/CD pipelines, automating infrastructure deployment, and ensuring the reliability and scalability of our production systems. You will work closely with development and operations teams to streamline processes, improve system performance, and implement cutting-edge Dev Ops practices. The position requires a hands‑on approach to cloud infrastructure management and a passion for automation. As this role is office-based, you will benefit from direct collaboration and mentorship within a dynamic IT department.

Key Responsibilities Design, build, and maintain scalable and reliable cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure/GCP). Develop and manage CI/CD pipelines for automated application deployment and testing. Implement and manage infrastructure as code (Ia C) using tools like Terraform or Ansible. Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions for optimization. Automate operational tasks and processes to improve efficiency. Ensure the security and compliance of cloud environments. Collaborate with development teams to troubleshoot and resolve production issues. Implement and manage containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes). Develop and maintain scripting for system administration and automation (e.g., Python, Bash). Participate in on-call rotation for incident response. Stay up-to-date with industry best practices in Dev Ops and cloud technologies. Contribute to architectural decisions related to infrastructure and deployment. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience. 3-5 years of experience in a Dev Ops or Systems Engineering role. Proficiency in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and their core services. Strong experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, Git Lab CI, Circle CI). Hands‑on experience with infrastructure as code tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, Chef, Puppet). Experience with containerization technologies (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes). Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or Power Shell. Solid understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, Load Balancing). Experience with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack). Familiarity with version control systems like Git. Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
